^That was actually a quote from my very ignorant father on the subject. I could have laughed had it not been so disgusting.
Anyways, if children can grow up in a home with a single parent who is constantly working to make sure the family barely survives, and still pursue a successful life, I doubt it would hurt to receive a bit more income and familiar support/structure if there were another intimate member to the family, regardless of orientation.
So such fabricated "maladies" may have been through the direct result of societal condemnation towards children from homosexual families.
It just seemed like one of the slogans for Prop 8 was "Protect children!" And because their argument about education clearly fails, since parents ultimately have control over what their children learn (hence the little permission slips which we bring home to watch some movie or learn something controversial).
And I'm beginning to think that although that's a front for prop 8, it's hiding the "protect children from t he gays!" message beneath it.

If a child is raised in a loving, but disciplined household, there's a very good possibilty they'll be just fine - whether the parents are homosexuals or not. Ugh. I hate it when people use children as an excuse to make their arguments "valid".

I hate it when people use children as an excuse to make their arguments "valid". Me too! I have numerous friends who have gay parents, and they are some of the best people I know! People seems to think that just because some one is homosexual, they will make a bad parent. Maybe they think that if something is different with their sexuality, they're maternal or paternal insticts will be different? But its not that simple. Not all homosexual couples are going to be good parents, but not all heterosexual couples are going to be good parents either. I actually think that homosexual couples might make better parents because the children will be used to difference and diversity more then someone with straight parents.

Not to mention that same gender parents won't just pop out kids by accident...

Exactly ~ I don't know anyone with homosexual parents, but I do know a good deal of people from hetero families who were very messed up, one way or another. "Protect the children?" From whom, exactly?

Usually this stuff comes from Jesus freaks. But Jon Stewart rather nicely:
"I think religion is far more of a choice than sexuality."
I'm sorry, but that quote was so good, I HAD to quote it here. If you like I can YouTube the Interview which he discusses it. It was a great interview.

...Not all Christians are Jesus freaks. Just recently (like, 3 weeks ago) I was in a performance of The Laramie Project at my school. I go to a private Catholic school, and the priests there actually requested that our directors produce that show this year, because they wanted to remind the students about diversity and whatnot. So a couple of weeks ago, we performed the show three times (in one day, ugh), once for the 7-8th graders, once for the 9-10th graders, and once for the 11-12th graders. So...yeah. We Christians aren't all bad.

I was never suggesting that. I'm Christian too, but I've definitely strayed from my religion a bit because of the jesus-freaks that give us a bad name.

No, I know you weren't suggesting that. I was just stating that contrary to what many media outlets would lead people to believe, Christians are generally not that bad. Except those nuts who don't pay attention to the whole "Separation of Church and State" idea.

We Christians aren't all bad. Same here (well, not about the play, but, y'know). It's not like homosexual parents will accidentally get pregnant or anything, either. So that's less abortion risk (which most Catholics believe is killing). And, I mean, isn't this history repeating itself? Civil Rights Act, my fellow Terrans. People in there would stereotype blacks as inferior because of their looks. God made them that way! And if God made you homosexual, than dangit, you are! How can those people not see that? Gragh! *sighs* Ah... well. Prop 8 is still wrong. Amen. There's a pretty good artical in Newsweek about one of those so-called "Jesus-freaks" just wanting to talk. That, I think, is good. Some people are getting somewhere.

Anyone who doesn't think it's killing belongs in an insane asylum. Most Catholics believe it's murder and that's why they think it's wrong, or most Catholics think killing is intrinsically wrong.

I'm not christian. I'm atheist and pro-choice. Did you even read the rest of my post? It's short enough.

If you guys want to discuss the pros and cons of abortion, take it to another thread. This thread is specifically on Prop 8 and gay marriage.

BLAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I AM CRAZY.... really? see this is why some people think most christians are jesus-freaks. Killing is the destruction of any living thing. A fetus, zygote, whatever, is made of cells. Therefore, it is killing. But that is a totally seperate matter. Anyway, I find Sakura's argument for gay marriage rather flawed. This just makes me want to bring up slavery/abortion so much. But it's irrelevant and will provoke arguments. Arguing semantics here, but they didn't stereotype them as inferior because of their looks, they believed them to be inferior because of them. I'm going to make an assumption here, and assume you're talking about the Christian/Jewish/Muslim God, YHWH, God, Allah, et alii Now, this fails to take into account views that being homosexual is fine, but acting homosezual (Sex, kissing et cetera) isn't. Further, Leviticus contains a rather specific proclamation against gay sex. "You shall not lie with man as you do with woman, it is an abomination." Verse forthcoming. Whether or not it's a choice has no bearing whatsoever on the truth of it.
