Either way, we *did* get cheated out of an awesome scene, I think. Well...they had far more important and long-reaching episodes to spend time on...like The Painted Lady and Nightmares and Daydreams... avatar is over get over it That was uncalled for. Did anyone say they wanted to see it now...that they wished they could see it? We all know the show's over, and many of us a quite happy with that fact...but we've made online friends here and we like to talk about something we all enjoyed.

Most Zutarians like Painted Lady... XD
But yes, just trying to put a damper on our posts isn't very much respected. D: Avatar IS over, but there's plenty left to discuss.

Most Zutarians like Painted Lady... XDWhy? Zuko wasn't even in it...or is it a 'we both have a masked identity and so therefore belong together' thing?

Unfortunately, that's pretty much it. XD I actually liked it for the animation, cuz that episode was epicly well animated.

I liked it for the animation too. XD I LOVE the coloring in that episode, especially the daylight scenes. Katara's eyes are so blue and her skin tone is perfect. It was very pretty. lol
And yeah, as a zutarian, the parallels to Zuko Alone and the Blue Spirit/Painted Lady alter ego thing did not go unnoticed.
I actually really liked the story too. It was Katara fighting for the people. Even though I felt it was kind of odd for the local military to be so mean to the town in the first place. I mean, my local naval base doesn't have a bunch of sailors and marines who hate everyone in town... I felt that was a bit of a liberalish bias on Mike and Bryan's parts. Soldiers almost always equal bullies in ATLA, Lt. Ji being an exception. They also didn't tend to show the community's connections to their soldiers in a positive light, at all. Honestly, in The Painted Lady, you would have thought the village was in the EK, not the FN if you hadn't known better, considering how unconnected the village seemed to be to those soldiers and the hostile relations.
But, since the soldiers *were* jerks in the story and the factory *was* killing off the town, I liked that Katara was stopping it. lol And Sokka's moment of coming to his sister's defense at the end was very cool. Some good sibling bonding in that ep, which I felt we never saw enough of.
And Toph was Toph and punched Aang in the arm, which I always find amusing. >_> She wasn't going for his sissy, overly emotional stuff. lol (And hey, its a sign of affection from her anyway, right?)

This was my response to The Painted Lady: But...we's gettin' a tad off-topic here seeing as the original discussion was about whether Zuko told the gAang his origin story that is full of so much sadness.

^difference btwn the two scenarios: Katara kept her family with her, Zuko went it alone. She would have been run out of town too if it hadn't been for Sokka. (Tho those EK ppl were IDIOTS when they kicked Zuko out, I swear.)
Yeah on topic, uh.... XD I wonder who he would have told about his scar first? Or would it have been a group reveal? I can kind of see them all around the fire in the western air temple and Toph asking him how he got the scar she's somehow heard about. Then he'd tell the whole group the story.
(Yeah, darn it, I want that scene. Anyone know of a fanfic that covers this?)

I imagine that could very well be the case. I'd love to write that scene, but I don't know how well it would come off. But if he were to tell anyone personally, I imagine it was either Sokka or Katara. He kind of spent a lot of one-on-one conversation time with them in their little adventures. I don't know though. He really got close to everyone in the Gaang.

This (in my opinion) was one of the biggest let-downs of the 3rd season (aside from the bull deus ex machina they pulled in the finale). I highly doubt Aang would be saying that, "Ozai is still a human being, I should kill him boo hoo" if Zuko had told him what he REALLY did.

I imagine he would have told them some time after joining team avatar in season three, though I swore he had to have said something to Katara, since she offered to heal it and all that. I just assumed that at least she knew about it.

He might have but it would've been a good thing to actually see for ourselves. But no, they had to have all those random episodes before he joined them, giving him like 4 episodes of interaction (not counting the finale). I mean seriously, every episode except Awakening was practically filler until the invasion (Secret dance parties anyone?)

Good point,it definitely would have been an interesting and very compelling scene to see,but I suppose they cut out that option since the audience already knows how he got his scar. Also...yeah secret dance parties....that was an all right episode, even for a filler.

I dont think it was neccesary to show that scene and Im glad Bryke didnt bother. What would it if have added to the show?
By the third season, we were never going to get much more character development and, given the stated plot of the show from Season One, there was never going to be much room to stretch the show in that direction either. Thats why Im glad for the so called "fillers" in the third season that both celebrated and reminisced on the elements that drew so many of us to the series in the first place rather than mourned the inevitable and foregone conclusion of the series.
