Yeah....when I'm really bored I'll read through a random page of the trash bin. So you should definitely keep it. ^_^

Yah, there's nothing wrong with it. I was kinda "lulz i feel lyke maekin a suggestion." PMing the people who's threads get locked is definitely a good idea, and I personally would leave locked threads viewable for a while before trashing, but that's not really something that needs to be made a forum standard.

I think we should keep it, it's not like it's killing anyone

Just wanted to post a general observation and suggestion. I noticed that a lot of threads are locked and trashed without any notice. If a thread has gone hostile then it should certainly be locked and trashed immediately . However, if a thread is simply old or has served its function, may I suggest that the moderator concerned t post a notice of at least a couple of days in case anyone wants to post any last comments on that particular thread instead of locking & trashing it immediately? Its very frustrating when you want to post a point on an issue but find that its been locked and trashed especially when the issue is not worth recreating the whole thread over again.

Ooh, I really like that suggestion. Perhaps staff can bump old threads that don't necessarily need to be trashed just yet, and wait and see if anyone is interested?

That seems like a perfectly reasonable thing to do. I for one could implement that. ^_^

Hmmm that would work for some topics.... The only thing is a lot of the time threads go south extremely quickly and the reason why they are trashed so fast. But that would work for some threads.

That is a good idea, asian malaysian. But like BB said, for some topics it works and for others it doesn't. For example in the Creations board, when there is an old thread and in which the link is broken or the image is removed, there is no need to keep the thread anymore. You can't comment on something that isn't there. Or with some discussion thread that are getting out of control. It's better to trash those as soon as possible. But otherwise your suggestion is very good. Edit: I agree with Shockie. Bumping is fine by me as long as the post has good content. Otherwise there's no need to bump an old thread.

Real quick like I'm gonna pop in and address the whole 'there is no notice' part of your post. If you're talking about a post explaining why it was trashed I think most threads have those, but if you're refering to the little notices that are given the option to appear when a thread a move it was decided a loooong time ago that the staff wouldn't use them. They clutter the board and are useless threads as noone can post in them. If a thread is missing its a safe assumption to assume its been moved to the trash. Also, if you have something to add that you think could get a thread in the trash started up again, feel free to PM a staffer and let them know and they'll be happy to bring the thread back to open debate for ya.
I just thought I'd throw that in for whoever wondered why we don't use the 'moved thread: x' message >> I agree with what everyone else is saying so far. Oh yea, and also for the most part old threads only get cleaned out five or six times a year. If there isn't anything wrong with the thread it is usually left to sink and die on its own.

Thanks for the all the consideration and responses, dudes. I appreciate my suggestion may not be applicable for all the threads and all the sub-forums ( I was thinking more of the Avatar related discussions really) and would entail an added inconvienience for the mods but I think most members would appreciated that added effort.
@godhunter. Actually I was just suggesting a post in the thread to be locked and trashed saying something like "this thread will be locked and trashed in two days because [its old/completed/etc]". That way any one who feels the need to contribute to that discussion can do so before its locked and trashed.
