1 of the things that i really admire about the show is how much attention to detail is paid. like we all know that bryan & mike reference actual gong fu moves all the time when animating fight scenes, & they themselves even learn gong fu from sifu kisu. what i wanna know is, has avatar inspired you to take up a martial art? karate, taekwondo, muay thai, gong fu, kickboxing, anything!
my husband & i practice american style kickboxing, & he's a 2nd degree black belt in shotokan karate. because of avatar, he now wants to find a school that teaches hung gar & shaolin style fighting. i wouldn't mind learning hung gar & tai chi.

If I learned how to defend myself it will only make me want to defend myself from being a nice person.

Ouch. I've heard Aikido is really tough. My dad used to take it long ago. He can still do some seriously freaky stuff even though he never really advanced in belt level. I used to take Tae Kwon Do, but the school I was at became very commercial. We stopped sparring and going to tournaments. You had to pay a ton to be in weapons class and stuff. I wound up not going to class anymore. But before that, I was a second degree black belt.

I practised Jiu Jitsu and Judo but i'm short on time at the moment. I've thought about Aikido to since a friend started practising it but i found out that it was nothing for me. I really missed the fighting there I just love to test my skills in a fight but i get usualy beaten because my opponets train a lot more then me

It was the opposite for me. The martial arts was what attracted me to the show. I do Choy Lay Fut kung fu and I like anime so I instantly fell in love. Everyone at my kwoon loves it too. ^.^
