Zuko is okay in small doses. Too much angst is not good for the soul. Lately he's been kinda getting on my nerves. He's supposed to; he is a villain. I don't like him being lovey-dovey with Mai, it doesn't fit either of their personalities. Neither of the personalities they display to the rest of the world as a defense mechanism, that is; they just let go and be themselves around each other and actually allow themselves to be happy. I won't begrudge him that. Then there's the whole I-just-want-my-father-to-love-me side. We all know it's never gonna happen, why can't he wise up? It has- "My dad talks to me- he even thinks I'm a hero! ... I was the perfect prince, the son my father wanted..." BUT "I wasn't me." His dad loves him... and he's not happy. Be careful what you wish for.

Maiko is the only way I tolerate Zuko, Mai is the only character I like to see develop with Zuko. I could care less about Zuko, he's just a loser boy. But Aang, he's reminds me of Spiderman, funny, wisecracking, and overall down to earth hero with alot of responsiblity on his shoulders.

Spider-man is one of the most human heroes just on the edge of "super" who struggles with life and responsibility. Aang is just too cute, powerful, incredible, and sweet for words- he's a cute Superman. Zuko is more like the heroes and rivals of anime than any Western superhero.

Aang gets the vote from me. I've always prefered the sweet, funny, cute, etc. main heroes than the angsty "bad boy" types.

I'm an angsty bad-boy fan.
I can't name a single show/book/comic/movie/video game in which the lead character was my favourite...it's always the broody/snarky one or the comic relief...

I like Aang because he's naive, funny and just an overall happy-go-lucky, optimistic guy. The world needs more people like him. ^^

I find Zuko the more interesting character within the confines of the show. He has a more complex and convoluted path on which to travel, and I think his decision in COD, while understandably unpopular with fans, was one of the bravest things I have ever seen a writer do in any form of media.
This doesn't mean I would want to meet anyone like him in life, but, to me, that is the whole point of fiction. To learn about, and empathize with, people whom you don't necessarily want to encounter in real life. This is where fiction can exert great power, expanding our horizons and opening our minds to new possibilites in the world around us.
And I don't think Zuko is overly angsty. If I lived his life, I'd be twice as 'emo' as he is.

^ That's what I always think when I read peoiple calling him "emo" or "too angsty." The stuff that's happened tp him is the kind of stuff one has a perfectly valid right to be upset about.

I must say that I seem to like those characters myself. I don't know why, but I'm drawn to them. I guess I really don't like overly happy, optimistic people. I voted Zuko along time ago, and I have not strayed. I loved him in season's 1 and 2, and I adore the real Zuko who is finally showing himself to the world!

Admittedly...I love Zuko when he's adorkable too We're bound to be seeing more of that side of him now that he's told his dad where to go and has to convice the gAang that he's no longer an angry jerk.
