I haven't seen this yet, & I had a couple of questions. Did they ever explain why Azula & co. showed up at the boiling rock in the first place? Why is Hakoda the only one of the DOBS rebels to be sent to the boiling rock? (and why now, why was he not sent to boiling rock right away?) Does Zuko know for sure that Mai saved them? (I'm not expecting Zuko to make the leap from Mai helping to Mai imprisioned, as Sokka never made the leap from Kyoshi identity stolen to Suki imprisoned...) What was Aang, Katara, & Toph doing whilst Zuko & Sokka were away? Did anyone see/notice Haru's reaction when he sees that they've rescued Hakoda, but not his father?

hmm. Everyone thought that scene in the trailer with the Airship battle with Zuko falling/Katara catching would be part 2 of the Boiling Rock. But now we know it isn't. But if we observe carefully, In the Airship scenes, Suki is still in her prison clothes. In Ember Island Players, Suki is seen with a nice new Fire Nation dress. So does that mean that the Airship fight happens in the Southern Raiders along with Zutara Ninjas? Or will Zutara Ninjas be in a different episode altogether?
I hope Azula eases down the rocket thrust manuevers in the future. Looks wierd.

DoBS prisoners are in Iroh's prison tower I think since Hakoda said they were locked up in a prison near the palace. He was the leader so he was locked up there.

Good observation - Suki's clothes were primarily what made me think the Zuko falling scene was from The Boiling Rock. So maybe it *is* from The Southern Raiders? Btw, I'm so surprised that the rest of the GAang bought that whole "gone fishin'" excuse. I mean, really? I'd say they were being a bit willfully ignorant on that one.

Only a couple of days, I think - three at most.

Aww, that's not nice. I'm not a Maiko fan by ANY means (I think that's well-established), but that's not fair to the Maiko fans here. We should treat others how we want to be treated, and, since Zutara's been declared officially dead about 50 times, I know how badly it feels.

And i'm glad that Maiko is OFFICIALLLY dead. hahaha. mai's in prision. With all due respect, you has to be a special kind of crazy to actually think that Maiko is dead and that Mai's just going to spend the rest of her days rotting in prison

@flabortast: Karma for answering one of my many questions!
Sounds like an interesting episode, it just seems a little... expected. Oh well, here's hoping I will be completely blown away by future plot twists.. For those who aren't so fond of Maiko - have you ever met someone IRL who seems totally amazing but is in a relationship with somebody who doesn't seem right for them? And worse, they actually seem to be enjoying themselves?! Maybe Maiko is one of those relationships..
Re: Chitsang - maybe he can provide the gaang with more information about the comet, a secret FN resistance, or he is an imprisoned white lotus member...

So, this is my reaction to the Boiling rock: hell yeah. This is the best episode this season. It had a good combination of drama and comedy, though it went a little easy on the action side of things. The battle on the gondola was a little… slow. It wasn’t really bad, just not the best fight scene Avatar has ever put out. I actually thought the highlight action-wise, was Mai’s two minutes of glory when she took out like eight guys. The Suko bit was pretty slick to. The outstanding drama and comedy parts more than make up for any lack in the battle scenes though. On the romance side (because shipping is a fandom term) both Suki/Sokka and Zuko/Mai was handled exceptionally well. It helps that both of them were really in their element, doing what makes their respective pairings work: Sokka and Suki working together, and Mai torn between her loyalty for Zuko and Azula. But the thing that really makes these two episodes so strong is the Sokka and Zuko interactions. It even makes up for the fact that we really don’t see Aang, Katara, or Toph in this episode. It’s really impressive how they were able to tie up both Zuko’s and Sokka’s issues into one cohesive arc. Though there is an interesting dichotomy in that the first episode seems to focus on Sokka with Zuko as a supporting character, and the second episode shifts the focus to Zuko. It’s done pretty seamlessly.

Hmmm. I don't see Maiko as dead. And I don't think she and Ty Lee will stay in prison. I really do think Ty Lee could charm at least one guard into helping them escape.

I havnt watched the new eps yet, but from what I gather bout Maiko, I'm still not liking it too much haha, no offense Maiko fans! (I'm a zutarian LOL it explains it =P) but Maiko just seemed random and out of nowhere to me right from the beginning. I dunno, but I'm one of those people who like things that involve thinking, and Maiko just came out without any sort of explanation or development that we could see in the episodes at the beginning of the season. So despite all the sacrifices and stuff Mai made for Zuko, my views of the relationship still hasn't changed... but Maiko fans, don't shoot me for saying so! haha I'm just stating my opinions =D HOWEVER, I'm still quite surprised by what Mai did~~ it's quite surprising to me that Mai really does care about Zuko A LOT to decide to help him even though he broke her heart...looks like she CAN really care about someone really much, despite her usual lack of feeling LOL Part of me agrees with you about that, but im not zutaran, so im allowed to. No zutaran should ever be allowed to criticize maiko about lack of development Iroh wasn't there because Ozai want to keep him close in order to taunt him and test Zuko...and because it wouldn't have progressed the plot. wait... are you serious? IROH ESCAPED PEOPLE! HE IS NOT IN ANY PRISON! He is currently using intrigue to gather FN troops to his cause. And i'm glad that Maiko is OFFICIALLLY dead. hahaha. mai's in prision. ya, because this episode proved that if you get thrown in prison, you will stay there for the rest of the show. anyways, this episode got better for me when i unchildized the show in my mind... I imagined that they were using torture and stuff... because that was actually a verry comfy prison for the most maximum security prison in the FN. I bet the people at Guantamano Bay would be lining up to get into there.

zen: I think they were talking about the first half of the season in regards to Iroh's imprisonment.
