Hey guys! Here's your chance to place your vote and help us decide! As you probably already know, the 3rd Avatar volume for Book: Fire was released earlier this week, and has four episodes that won't air on US tv for at least another two months. So? Should discussion be kept in the Spoilers Board until the US airings? Or should discussion be allowed in all of the relating boards (with proper spoiler warnings in the thread title)? We the staff are having this debate out of respect for people who are waiting on spoilers until the tv airings. But hearing where the majority of the forum goers stand on this issue is important as well. So please vote to let us know what you think! Thank you! (and if you're wondering about the Sozin's Comet book, discussion for that is DEFINITELY staying in the Spoiler Board for now)

The episode is on DVD, and it has been online for quite a while. At this point it would have to have been a decision on the part of the viewer to not yet watch the episode. They can watch it anytime they want. Therefore, it should be treated the same as when an episode airs on television. Some people miss it, but we discuss it regardless.

I think it would be a good idea to give it a few more days, nothing really gets shipped on the weekend. At least until Tuesday. Then, as far as I am concerned its all fair game. Icons, banners, threads, the while nine yards.

I think we should keep spoilers from the DVD's away. I think icons and sigs should be allowedsince people really want to put them up. I wan tto stay awat untill they air on nick. But for threads, if we must have it give proper warning on the title. I think e ca stil make this a fine place for everyone to be and people who want to be spoiled, get thier spoilers. But also for people who want to wait, can still stay on here.

I think we should wait a few more days (like... maybe until next Tuesday, cause that's 1 week after they came out officially), then everyone be free to talk about it. Most people have already seen them, but this gives the people who haven't seen it yet a few more days to do that.

^ I like BPT's idea just wait till Tuesday that way it's a week. That's enough time for someone to buy or watch the episodes online.

They already had 2 weeks to watch the episode online. As I said, at this point a person not having seen it would require a conscious decision, and when they decided not to watch it yet, they should have accepted the fact that people won't bend over backwards for them regarding spoilers. You've all had free access to the episode for quite a while, there's really no excuse.

Kaneda, you should realize that simply because they were downloadable on the internet doesn't mean that everyone will download it. And I can garuntee that some people wouldn't download an episode they discovered was 'illegal' simply on principal alone. I understand what you are saying and I'm not sure I'm saying this how I want to but I'd suspect there are a fair amount of people who simply don't download anything online for various reasons, no matter how badly they wanted to see them...I guess the best analogy I can come up with is if an episode was released early on itunes or something. If memory serves until that episode aired on Nick it wasn't allowed to be talked about outside of the spoilers board, so it would seem natural to me to give those people who want to watch it the 'official' way a chance to do so.

Oh, man, what a tough problem. Not everyone can afford the dvd, either, or are waiting to buy the boxed set instead. It would be a shame to keep the sigs & stuff off... but it would be a shame for people to have to avoid DH for spoilers, too. What a way to end a series.

I'm pretty poor right now, plus I'm planning to buy the boxset when it comes out (And, yeah, I'm still upset about this whole DVD thing). Also, I don't like to download illegally. So I'm going to have to avoid coming here for quite some time if spoilers are allowed. I realize, though, that it's no entirely fair for the majority of people who have seen the episodes not to be able to talk about them freely and post icons. I really hope we can keep the spoilers relegated to the spoilers board until the episodes air. But if you do decide to allow spoilers, just make an announcement so I know to avoid DH for awhile. Which would be sad, but whaddaya gonna do?

Perhaps we should stick with previous rules...outside the Spoilers board with tags or very obvious headings?

Stop and think about this: Not everyone here will be able to get the DVD's right away. I know I can't. I don't have a job, and I'm using most of my economy stimulus check to pay off some of the debt I've racked up, and the rest, I'm using to buy Super Smash Brothers Brawl and No Country For Old Men. Be it for money issues, or not being able to go somewhere to get them for whatever reason, or even not having a DVD player or PS2 on which to watch, not all of us are able to just pick up the DVD. This said, even for those of us who CAN, there are still those who want to watch it on TV, will watch it on TV, and will complain about, for them, the spoilers. I may not complain, but I, myself, have no intention of watching the episodes until they air here in the States. If you ask me, there's nothing to debate. The discussions of the episodes should be kept in the Spoilers section where they belong, or, if it absolutely can't be avoided, then spoiler tags should be used, clear headlines put in place, and icons and sigs that would be considered spoilers be banned, all until the episodes officially air, and a strict enforcement policy put in place. Many people consider me a tyrant because of my beliefs on how certain rules and laws should be enforced, but this is one instance in which I absolutely must press that this be made so, and anyone who doesn't comply, new or not, face some harsh punishment. It's not right to let things go now, after this long of keeping these things in the Spoilers board where they belong, so those who want to, no matter how badly they may want to, shouldn't be allowed to make sigs and/or icons and discuss it as though it had been aired, and thus spoil it for those who genuinely want to wait til they air.

"No, keep spoilers in Spoiler Board until tv airing" is my vote.
Until everybody in the USA has a chance to see the episodes FREE and LEGALLY (as opposed to illegally downloading them), I say that they should stay in the spoilers board, and that also includes icons/sigs and stuff.
I remember on another Avatar forum I was on, there were sigs and icons from unaired episodes, and it really spoiled parts of the episodes when they aired for me, because I knew what was going to happen.
In all honesty, I think I'll be leaving DH until the new episodes air if discussion regarding the episodes (not including the spoilers board) is no longer considered a spoiler.

I think that everything should be allowed everywhere now. I did not want to spoil myself and I bought the DVD, so I don't consider anything on the DVD to be spoilers. It has been legally released in the US, so I think we should be able to talk about it freely. Like kaneda said, you are actively avoiding something completely legal now for no reason. I don't see how the DVD is not available to some and I'd like to know why someone couldn't get it. I got it at Best Buy for $9.99 so it wasn't like a normal $20 DVD. I guess waiting until Tuesday would be fair, but then any kind of spoilers wold be allowed. (When I first saw this I thought it meant book spoilers - because I obviously can't read- and I was like when so many people voted for allowing book spoilers. XD)

I think it's ok to talk about the episodes, as long as it's kept in a place where you only see it if you want to see it. That way some unsuspecting poster doesn't accidently stumble upon information they don't want to know about until the episodes air on TV.
