So I was reading another chapter in The Tale of Toph and decided to write something just now about the Tale of Mae which has Ty Lee as a main character and an original character of mine to come. This is just something I put together and would like to know if I did a good job and the writing style the real books are written in.
Hello there, my name is Mai. I live in the Fire Nation, well not really the main homeland of the Fire Nation. More like a colony in the Earth Kingdom during this war. Omashu I believe it was called or whatever. I really do not remember names to well. My father is the governor of the colony, yadadada. I have a small brother named Tom Tom, yadadadada. This city is so boring and there is never anything to do around here. My mother always told me to cheer up and be happy, that we are like royalty here. Alright, last time I checked, we were not the royal fire family. So we are not royalty. Anyways this is not about my boring life within the city, more along the line of my adventures. Ever since Princess Azula came, daughter of the Fire Lord, my life has been getting more exciting.
Azula and I have been friends ever since childhood. When she arrived her in the city, she renamed it after her father, the city of New Ozai. She also bought another childhood friend with her, Ty Lee. Sometimes her peppiness drives me insane. How is it possible for someone to always feel good about life, when there is a ton of boringness in it? It just doesn’t make sense. But she is my friend and I am glad to see her again. However while we were in the city, we discovered a resistance forming. Hitching a plot to get every Earth Kingdom citizen out of the city, They came up with a pentapox and the guards just let them walk out of the front door from foolish orders by my father. Yet we did find out the cause of the rebellious behavior. The Avatar was in the city hoping to find his friend. The FORMER king of Omashu, King Bumi. Azula hatched together a plan after realizing that the resistance kidnapped my baby brother. She put me in charge of the hostage trade instead of my father so he doesn’t screw up again.
Yawn, we finally came to the hostage trade and the Avatar did show up with a guy and a girl by his side. I was about to give him Bumi for my baby brother, When Azula told me something and made me rethink. She told me that we were trading a king for a baby, and a powerful one at that. She convinced me it wasn’t a fair trade. She was right of course like she always was. “The deals off!” I said to the Avatar before getting out my weapons in case they attacked. They did attack, but they quickly escaped. Azula chanced Aang along with Bumi down the mail shoots, yadadada. Next thing I know was that Azula gathered Ty Lee and myself. We were told to help her hunt her uncle and her brother. However Ty Lee fault the need to make a crack about my little childhood crush on Zuko, Azula’s brother. Why did she had to bring that up. Sigh. Anyways, Azula told us we have a third target and that was the Avatar after she realized the truth.
