After searching madly for the information i need and trying to find a way to contact Nickelodeon I finally think asking here public could help somehow.
Is it allowed to develope a fangame about the Avatar series, using general ideas and terms of the show, and to get money for a needed Gameserver via donations?
An ORPG project is in progress, but actually we dont know if we have to alter and rename everything to avoid violating the copyright law, even if we dont want to make profit.
Please keep this thread close to the problem I pointed out. Any specific game related posts arent welcome, thx.

Still it there property and you have to ask permission in order to use it....Just think of as someone trying to use your stuff like toys or video games.

It probably isn't legal :/ The problem is only if Nick will care enough to shut you down or not.
As for Nick's address...sorry, no idea. I know it's impossible to find from their webpage though.

There is a fangame made before any of the official games came out, however it was most certainly a work in progress and it wasn't really made well. I heard somewhere that someone was creating an Avatar Online game. I don't know what happen. I was thinking of creating a browser based role play game like all of the Star Wars games.

Well, we wont quit working on our game anyway. We found no way to contact Nickelodeon about our problem, so we will just go along, make it ready for open beta (I will give out information in this forum when the time is right). And if the popularity grows, we will take care about that issue again.
I can just appeal to the community again: If you got any further knowledge or maybe experience how it worked with other fangames, just post it here, i will check the thread frequently, thx.

well just remember that THQ need a license to use the property of avatar...of coruse that because they are a company that going to sell product related but that dosen't mean they can't go after anyone for even if there intent is no sell.
Just be carefull.

I warn you, though: Their lackey employees aren't likely to point you in the right direction. I've been sort of harrassing them about The Last Airbender movie information, to no avail. :/ Maybe you'll have more luck? Nickelodeon 1515 Broadway New York, NY 10036 Phone: 1-212-258-7500 When you get to a point where you release it, be sure to post back! I'm interested!
