This man rules, are there any other fans on here? :-*
I loved his work with Genesis, and to me I thought his voice was so much better than Collins. It's so (lackofabetterword) deep and sexy!! :-*
I don't own too much of his early work except Melt and Security, and then of course I have So, Up and Passion. I don't have Us :'(
Got to get Us...

He does! I heard "Sledgehammer" the other day and I was like "Oh wow. Brings back memories". I downloaded a FST for Avatar, and it had all this eclectic music, and most of them had Peter Gabriel songs. They were GORGEOUS. My favorite PG song from that mix was "In Doubt/A Different Drum".

I've been a devout fan ever since '86! I got front row seats for his "Growing Up Live" tour back '03! It was absolutely incredible! In fact, to prove my 'fan-worthiness' challenge everyone to tell us what the song "In Your Eyes" is all about... Hint: It's not what most everyone thinks.

I'm afraid I could not tell you what that is about...but I do love his music! In fact, I'm listening to "Kiss That Frog" right now...LOVE IT!

@alternatecoppa: Didn't he write "In Your Eyes" for that one girl he dated? I forgot her name, but I know that another band's lead singer wrote a song about her and it became a hit? I could be wrong, though. xD

Aha, so that was her name. I knew it was something like Rosanna or Roxanne or something. She's quite the inspiration, LOL.

Rosanna Arquette has indeed been allegedly referred to as the inspiration. However there's some evidence the song was already written and recorded before they met. Peter himself has always been rather aloof in discussing the meanings of his songs, preferring to allow the listener to interpret their own meanings. He does occasionally speak of influences though and has said that the "seeing the light and heat" and wanting "to be that complete" are inspired more from his experiences with those who he feels have attained a spiritual balance in their life like his own friend Youssou N'Dour, the African vocalist whom he sings with in the song. So one might say it's not just a simple a love song... Unless you wish to see it that way. In which case, it is.

Oh wow. I never knew that! You learn something new everyday. Now, for some reason, the song reminds me of Kataang even more Thanks for the Q&A 'Coppa. xD
