Anyone else a fan of her work? I've read all the Shadow Children books and Running Out of Time, and I think they're amazing. The Shadow Children series has some awesome characters, and Haddix shifting the point of view from book to book allows all the main characters a fair amount of development. Running Out of Time is definitely brilliant plotwise; the concept is quite original. So, discuss away!

Apparently I read Running Out of Time in 4th Grade. I've read the Shadow Children books, and I guess she's a decent writer.

I read Running Out Of Time.
'Twas cool. I don't really enjoy her writing style, it gave me a very blurry, dream-like vision of the story in my head.

Yeah, I'm not big on Katherine Peterson Haddix either. I had to read her books in 3rd and 5th grade. They had some interesting concepts but I just don't like her writing style.

I read the books a long time ago, so I don't remember the style and all, just the concepts and plots. And I guess what I remembered was good since I can remember reading the books after many years and started a thread about it.

I read Running Out of Time in fifth grade. I was at the bookstore the other day. I never knew how many books she has written. I heard there was a big controversy about Running Out of Time and the movie by M. Night, The Village. When I saw that in the theatres, I thought, Heeeeeey.....this plot seems familiar.......

I love her!!! <3 I'm currently reading the last book in the Shadow Children series, and although it's not as good as the first ones, it's still great. I love her writing style; it's serious and intense without being scary or hard to understand. Her novels are great for light reading, and they have really memorable and creative concepts and plot lines.
I loved Running Out of Time and Just Ella, but I think my favorite of hers was Turnabout. I didn't think I'd enjoy it much, because the plot description didn't sound very interesting, but it was actually a surprisingly good novel, one of my favorites to date.

"Running Out of Time" was my favorite. I love the scene where the girl is in the store, and she gets a fruit drink because she thinks the soda is cough syrup. xD That book was memorable because the concept was so unique; it was like a time travel story, except it made more sense, as the characters just had to leave their town to go from 1840 to 1990, and they weren't actually "leaving their time". That book was quite original, I might re-read it again; I haven't read it in four years.
