I just read this book (it was recommended to me by Splendi) and absolutely loved it. It's written in prose poetry form and it's about a girl who starts taking meth when she visits her father over the summer and it just outlines her struggles with 'the monster.' It is such a moving story. I really can't wait to read other stuff that Hopkins has written.

I really want to read this, and her other works. I flipped through Crank and it seemed incredibly powerful. I've always been a big fan of prose poetry, but have never seen it used quite like this. I think it'd be interesting to write a novel this way...*ponders*

Ellen is amazing. It's incredible how she gets you into the characters shoes. I don't have to take drugs, I know how they 'feel' [kinda, you know?] because she described them so vividly. It's terrible, yet beautiful. She writes wonderful, yet depressing books. Crank is about a young girl, her daughter actually, who gets caught up in the world of drugs. Impulse, my favorite, is about teen suicide, or attempted, and the life if three teens who meet up at a rehab clinic. Burned is the most recent I've read, and it's not the best. It's about a mormon girl that gets in way over her head. I love Ellens books, and Glass, the sequel to Crank, will be around soon!
