I read the series. I really wasn't that impressed, actaully. I thought it was a really good idea. Absolutely. Who doesn't want to be made pretty? It opens the road for some great questions, too. What is beauty? What's the cost and is it worth it? What's the cost of being original and is it worth it? All really good questions, and the books had a LOT of potential. But the major flaw was the character: She was just too weak. The protagonist (I forget her name) never really did anything to change her destiny, she just sort of let the circumstances carry her whichever way they would. She seemed to bump into everything by accident, and her antagonist (shay?) actually turned out to be a much stronger and more memorable character than she. The ending felt out of joing with the story, too. There was no satisfying feeling of completion or coming full-circle. Rather, a kind of forced wrap-up of things that didn't particularly match the character.

^Tally was the Protagonist. Really Doctor whatever-her-name-was was the Antagonist, but that's somewhat a spoiler. I've read the whole series and I love it. Actually, I love all the books by Scott Westerfeld. XD

Omg I love these books and I can't wait for Extras to come out! I really reccoment keeping up with Scott Westerfeld's blog. He is an incredibally nice guy and will actually answer his e-mail. Its not one of those insert name letters either. The books raise incredible questions about society. You know where he got the idea from? Photoshopping. If you go to his blogs about Uglies then you can find some really good stuff that he has provided his readers. www.scottwesterfeld.com

I love this book series. It's amazing; it really makes you think about beauty and society's opinion of it.

So I guess I need to go back and read Uglies. xD To the Library! ^_^ But come on, general rule: Write a sequel, re-cap! Jeez. -_-"

Well I wasn't smart enough to figure that out until fifty pages later. XD I read the third Harry Potter book before the second. They even have -numbers- on them. I was 11 though I think, at least it wasn't recently.
