Mods: If this thread belongs elsewhere or has been made elsewhere, you are free to move or delete it ~~ Okay, I was looking through the boards and threads, and realized a severe need for this one. Mostly because I'm curious about what other people are reading right now, and because I want to be able to talk about what I'm reading right now without making a discussion thread for each book. You say what you are reading now, and if you want tell what your relationship with the book is (hate, love, school related, or for fun) . You can go all out and write a review for how it's going so far . I'll start ^_^ Today, I went on a book splurge at the library (despite needing my study time ^_^ . I'm currently reading The Epic of Gilgamesh for the fun of it. The ideas of beauty in Ancient Mesopotamian seem really odd. Whenever they describe a person as handsome, he comes out sounding like a very big hairy, smelly caveman 0_o. Makes me wonder what "ugly" was back then... *shudders*. Unfortunately, some parts were lost because of stone erosion, but it's a good read despite that .

Revelation Space, it's a good novel.
Also rereading the Salmon of Doubt after Zink made me remember it.

I just finished reading The Time Traveler's Wife by Aubrey Niffenegger. It's an excellent book that teaches you how love can transcend over time. Despite it being a love story ('cuz I dislike them), the novel won my heart all the same. There's some adult content in it, so I'd have to give it a rating of PG-16.
I'm trying to read "classic" novels right now, so my next book is The Return of the Native by Thomas Hardy. I believe it's about a man who has returned to his native country, only to find out that it has been enslaved. That or the man discusses the hardships of slavery. I don't know really, but a friend just recommended it to me so I'm giving it a shot. ;D

I have also been reading this series called A Life Of Faith
They are Christian novels for teenage girls about the lives of several girls in the 1800s-early 1900s, its about their faith, and how they live their lives the way God wants them to, and the troubles they face along the way. The ones I have read already are Milly Keith and Elsie Dinsmore, I am currrently reading Book 2 in the Violet Trivilla series Violet's Amazing Summer
They are awesome and have inspired me when I lost sight of my own faith in God.

Right now I am reading Dan Brown's Angels and Demons. It is a very interesting yet random book, lots of plot twists, heaps of symbol solving and ancient brotherhoods. I am really looking forward to see how the film turns out.

Finished The Epic of Gilgamesh. The ending was kinda surprising for an old epic... Very modernish. Hero has hopes crushed for immortality, loses his trophy, then shows his home city to a fellow traveler, then fade out. 0_o My thoughts: 0_o wtf? probably four stars. Not the best read, but I'll probably read it again some day.
I'm now working on some poem and Norton Anthologies. Read the short play "No Exit". Three random souls stuck together in a room = Hell 0_0. I'm currently reading the Story Poems anthology ^_^. Sokka: Ah... poetry...

I just finished reading "The Art of Shaolin Kung Fu" by Sufi Wong Kiew Kit. It's a good introduction to Shaolin kung fu if you're just starting out and want to know more about the background and basic concepts.
If you're a well verse martial artists with good foundation in the history, it really doesn't have much of a benefit.

Even though I haven't read it in awhile, I've been reading "1984." It's...interesting. It's the kind of book that keeps me on edge. It feels like you don't really know who are the good guys and who are the bad guys. As my brother put it in an e-mail I got from him:
And the Two Minutes of Hate at the beginning of the book was really bone chilling when I read it for the first time. You can't stop yelling approval, even if you want to. *shudders*
