From Wikipedia:
Though, if you're not new to the series, this isn't anything new for you. However, they added several new building types, unit types, and terrain types, as well as changing the ways COs work, and a much more dynamic story. The soundtrack for this game is also a step above the other AW titles.
Anybody else pick this up yet?

Anybody else pick this up yet? *Prepared to be mauled by Advance Wars fans* For once, they make an Advance Wars that actually looks good. No offense to Advance Wars fans, but I played the original and HATED it. I wasn't impressed by the graphics, though the magazines and all my friends said they were good, the CO powers bored me to sleep, and I had to play with the sound completely off, I did not like the music at all. To those who enjoyed it, more power to them, but I couldn't pick up Advance Wars 2 or Advance Wars: Dual Strike even if I had wanted to. That said, Days of Ruin actually looks like a war game of it's type should, and the gameplay videos I've seen seem to be better than the original. In this, when I have a job again, I intend to pick Days of Ruin up. One major thing I've noticied is that it seems done largely in the ways of the GBA Fire Emblem games, the way the movement and battle are handled.

I got the game, and I'm playing through it.
So far I'm on the 5th level.
I like the combat animations, but the overhead maps are a bit... eh.
