I figure not many here play this RPG unlike the Finial Fantasy series, but overall how many here play this game, wither it is in Japanese, translated, or already released in the USA, have you played this game or became a fan of it?

I play Dragon Quest. My favorite is VIII. It's a bit short, but it's got an intriguing story, and you can't say no to a full orchestrated soundtrack. How many games do you know to also bost such a thing as a fully orchestrated soundtrack?

Well I can say the Playstation seems to aways be one thing, and what I am hoping is to see a re-release of DQ 4 through 6, because I know that ever since Enix of America had closed up since 1993, DQ 5 and 6 Never came, not to mention were not intelligent enough to know programming of those times I guess, But now I guess things change and I hope it gets released soon.

Well seeing you seem unhappy at me on the subject, lets say not many seem to like Dragon Quest, unlike Finial Fantasy, that is pretty much what I am trying to say in this.

No, no, it's nothing like that. It just didn't make any sense to me.

Played I a very long time ago...bought it from a Japanese kid in my class who was moving back to Japan and selling all his English games. His little brother had marked out "Warrior" in black magic marker and wrote QUEST very large underneath. Loved it. But the only other one I've played is VIII...which I also loved. I did recently get VII from a friend for 5 bucks but I probably won't get to play it until summer. Can't wait for IX though.

IX. That brings up a thought I've been thinking forever and a day now: Why does Squenix still hate Nintendo? They're making Dragon Quest IX for the DS. Dragon Quest IX, the most anticipated Dragon Quest game since VIII, yet they make EVERYTHING else for Sony. Final Fantasy, case in point. They make all the new and original Final Fantasy games for Sony, and what do Nintendo system owners get? Redos of early Final Fantasy games that have already been redone a million times before. Moreover, they make Dragon Quest VIII a resounding success, yet their Wii Dragon Quest game fell flat on it's face. Why does Squenix still hate Nintendo? And it's not even the Enix half of the corporation that hates Nintendo.
History lesson time, kids. Back in the day, when Squaresoft was stil Squaresoft, this was back in the late 80's to mid 90's, they made the Final Fantasy games for Nintendo, but Nintendo dodn't give them credit. They got mad and threatened to pull their games from Nintendo and start selling to Sony, who, by the time FF6 came out, had already begun work on the PSOne. When it came time for FFVIII to come out, Square pulled their support, feeling the PSOne would be a better system for what they wanted to do with the series.
That all started 20 years ago. Half the people who worked for Squaresoft back then don't work with them anymore, and since the merger, the leaders of the company have changed a few times. So, Squenix, why do you still hate Nintendo? Can't you let bygones be bygones? When will you realize that you can boost profits considerably by making GOOD games for Nintendo owners AND making multiplatform some of your PS3 exclusive games?
Okami was done by Squenix, right? I'm pretty sure they did it. Either way, they're maing it for the Wii, and that's cool.

Nah, Okami was made by Clover studios and I think they were an off-shoot of Capcom. Now they don't really exist...the team was re-absorbed into the Capcom mass.

Silly Neruli, squenix cant make a real game for the wii. Nintendo is convinced that no actual gamers own the wii.
Semi sarcasm aside, the upcoming wii Crystal Chronicles actually looks pretty promising, but yah squenix should start actually supporting Nintendo again.
As for Dragon Quest, I haven't played it yet. I contemplated purchasing VIII, but although the reviews were positive they didn't do a very good job selling the product. I'm most likely missing out on something very enjoyable.

I'm an actual gamer, and I own a Wii... You are. DQVIII, while poorly promoted, is still a most excellent game. If you're looking for an engrossing RPG for the PS2, then Dragon Quesr VIII should be on your list, along with other favorites such as Final Fantasy XII and Tales of the Abyss.

Dragon Quest VIII is definitely the best game of the series. I wonder why they are making the next game for the DS? That really sucks because it would have been better to have it for the bigger consoles.

Squenix makes all their good games for Sony, yet all they give Nintendo is crap and remakes. The Wii Dragon Quest game looked like it would work, but it wound up sucking more than a vampire in a room full of people paralyzed from the neck down. Oh, well. They're making an official Dragon Quest prequel for a Nintendo system for the first time in God knows how long, so it's all good.

Well on a fansite I post at called Dragon's Den, there has been possible rumors Nintendo of America may block SquareEnix to try to release the remakes for the DS, if any thing the only rumor I can mention is that they do have an "English Script" ready for that release, but even so when Japan wants to get the US to see DQ4,5, and 6, it seems Nintendo of America has dumb programmers, denies it from being released here.
