I used to play Burnout Three on the Xbox like 4241235345 hours a day. It eventually got old and I got a Xbox 360 and time moved on. I noticed that EA/Criterion had ported Burnout Revenge to the 360, but I didn't want to buy that, I wanted something developed specifically with the Next-gen platforms in mind. (ie: 360, PS3). Hello Burnout Paradise. This game is fantastic. Gamerankings.com Average review score for it is 8.3. I read a couple of the reviews, however, and some of them basically marked the game down for being "Too Big", and they whined about having to go back to the starting point of an event if you don't place well in it. wtf? The only *real* negative aspect of this game is there are no split screen play options. With past releases, If you had friends over that are video game novices, Burnout was always a great game to stick in, because the basic controls were easy to pick up and the action was OMG intense fun. No split screen = no friends to play with at home (lol). I didn't play Burnout Revenge, at all, so I don't know if they improved the graphics and sound compared to that game. Compared to Burnout 3, however, it's a marked improvement. The sound is rich (hello rumbling glasspacks!) and immersive, and the graphics are quite decent. I didn't think it was even possible to improve on the physics of the game, but that seems better too. If you like gritty and action packed car racing games, this one's worth it.

Dan thats great to hear I was kinda disappointed in burnout revenge (I loved burnout three) I found it to be hmmm rather lifles if you know what I mean and it felt almost lonely so to speak. I think I was just accustom to burn out radio which made the game a little more interesting for me.
How hard is this one compared to burnout three Dan? burnout revenge was pretty hard.
But I'am bummed to hear no split screne as like you said almost anyone can crash a car.ROFL

Compared to Burnout 3 it's harder. The whole layout has changed from a series of defined race courses to one giant city. To start a race event, you pull up at a traffic light and hit the brakes and gas simultaneously. Then you are shown Point A, and Point B on the map. You have the whole city's network of roads and shortcuts (and train tracks! =0 ) to get there.
Since it's like a real city, the turns are tighter, and there's hundreds of ways to get from point a to point b. There's a few 'country' style courses on the fringes of the city, but the lion's share is downtown. The game gives you prompts to turn during a race, but at 180 MPH, it's still easy to miss your turn, heh.
It's super challenging to me, but I actually love it. This game has a lot of depth. ie: there are approximately 400 'hidden' shortcuts to find in the transportation network. It will keep me occupied for quite awhile. =D

I have a hard enough time just not hitting traffic.lol But I'm guessing you can still "bump small traffic going in the same direction as you. Have you had the chance to try out the crash events yet? And again thanks for the nice write up Dan.

Paridise is one of my favorite games although I have not been able to win 1 measly event to upgrade my liscence and its starting to peve me off. For some reason I cant even get 16 takedowns dispite the fact my record is like 70 or something when I only started the game and the cars wernt as good.
The new update was pretty sweet and the new interface is very sleek
