Whenever I beat the first U.S. Fire Emblem, I can't help but feel sad that it's over. I suppose it's because I'd gotten so attached to all of them, even Hector and Eliwood, whom I never use beyond making them 20/20 characters. Oh, what was her name? Was it Isabella? Isadora? The girl Paladin who joins in the cutscene after the first mission back from the island. I want to say Isadora, but all I remember is her name begins with an I. Anyway, she's really pretty. Ninian's really pretty, too.

Fire Emblem is very unforgiving. If anyone dies on the battlefield, you lose them forever, though some characters like Oswin from the first U.S. Fire Emblem, Seth from The Sacred Stones, and Soren from Path of Radiance, will stay on, even after being felled, being very important to the story. And if your main character(s) die, Lyndis, Eliwood, and Hector in the first one, Eirika and Ephraim in The Sacred Stones, and Ike in Path of Radiance, your game is over and you have to do the chapter they died in over again. However, a lot of people enjoy that challenge. My advice, borrow one from a friend and see for yourself.

My dad has the one for the Wii and I'm considering playing it. Watching him is actually why I'm hooked.

I've found it! I've found it! Just guess what I've found! Okay, since it pertains to Fire Emblem, and I wouldn't be saying it in this particular thread if it didn't, I found my copy of the first U.S. Fire Emblem! I'm so happy!
Ah, such happy, and bittersweet, memories. Like the first time I cleared Lyndis's story, I remember I started crying when it was over, even though it became apparent that I'd meet her and everyone else you got to play as in the first ten chapters again later. It's because I grew so fond of those characters, though I dislike Rath, like Ninian better than Nils, and never really got into it with Wallace. Wallace just joins way too late, no matter whose game you're playing, Lyndis's, Eliwood's, or Hector's (Even if Hector's game is just a longer, harder version of Eliwood's story)! And so, too, does Renault, the Bishop who joins in the third- or fourth-to-last chapter. And Merlinus just gets his wagon too late in the game, but that's where cheating comes in...

I like Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. and, like many people before me have said, it is a *very* hostile game. it's so easy to lose characters, and usually when you do, you've already started to love them. of course, my answer in Radiant Dawn was to send in Nephenee and Mia and let everyone else play pat-a-cake, and it worked. ~Zuko~

Lulz... Bumping xD
I recently got re-addicted to Fire Emblem and have been playing it so much, it's ridiculous. I have the original US version but it's just so complex and fun; the game is never really the same when you play it. The characters are pretty good, too and the supports make my shipper side very pleased xDDD

if you want to play a real fun one, try Radiant Dawn. it's really hard, but it's worth it. and the characters look so cool... and you get to see Shinon, Sanaki, Mia, and Nephenee AKA the best Fire Emblem characters ever. ~Toph~

Astrid was a terrible character... I mean, she was slow and not very powerful... I didn't mind the character herself. of course, I loved Rolf, and incidentally, I chose him and Boyd over Shinon for the final battle... ~Katara~

Astrid is my second best archer. Rolf is first, obviously. Shinon is just terrible. It doesn't help his cause that he starts out already promoted. And if Fire Emblem history teaches us anything, it's that characters who start promoted are rapidly replaced by someone else.

I loved Shinon....
I'm on the Part 4 Endgame of Radiant Dawn and I opted to bring Rolf as my archer. He's such a cutie!
My highest level is Haar. He's 20th and third tier. I didn't intend for him to end up like this, but he did.
I love how the game actually encourages you to play it again by giving you more characters. I've got Pelleas, actually. He's awful, but he died when my dad played it.
I'm missing a couple characters, sadly, so I'm going to play it again. I do not, however, accept the losses of any people and I restart the ENTIRE chapter (unless I battlesaved).

I don't care if it's my first stab at the level or my 31st. If someone dies, I will do the ENTIRE level over again til I clear it with everyone I took in still alive. That takes me back to when you officially get control of Soren in Path of Radiance. He's first level, and he' using the weakest type of magic in the game, and even if he does somehow get to attack twice, he rarely takes anyone down! And it's such a pain leveling him up! But when you do, and he knows Thunder magic, you really don't need Ilyana, Tormod (whom I absolutely abhor), or Calill.

Calil was awesome... she was my fastest mage characters, but I left her in favor of Ilyana... Soren was my wind mage (Ilyana was Thunder obviously) and Sanaki was my fire mage.
Pelleas was cool too.
but yeah, Mia, Nephenee, Shinon, and Sanaki were among my best... others I liked were Zihark, Rolf, Boyd, and the Laguz kings/ (and the wolf queen).
but yeah, in this run through, I've noticed that my Mist refuses to die no matter how much danger I put her in, so I usually send her in after the big guys strike and let her finish them off...
Nephenee is my wall character... no one gets past her period. Mia is her backup.
~Sanaki~
