^ they shouldn't. Bandai already licensed R2 and when they are done dubbing the first season, they dub R2.

hmmm. So Mao wasn't dead after all. I find that incredibly hard to believe, but whatever. I believe in mechas and mind powers and stuff, so whatever. And now... it seems like he might have been killed again, I have no idea. It seems far less clear this time than it did the first time.
Meanwhile, Milly and Lloyd???

Oh no, he's dead. No spoiler there he's defietely dead. I liked it better in the Original Japanese version, where Lulu tells Mao to "Shut up!!" (with his Geass on), and Mao can't make ANY noise. The gurgling he was doing in the dub was annoying.

Another thing I meant to say was, when they were playing chess, I was all like, "Lulu, just grab a handful of pieces and throw them in the thing! You don't have to actually capture them, just deactivate the bomb!" Of course, Mao would have known he was thinking that if he did, but I dunno if he would've been able to do anything about it. But ultimately, Lelouch outsmarted both Mao and me, of course. I never saw that tactic coming... very Zaphod Beeblebrox of him...
and I'm still worried about this whole "Shirley is pretending she doesn't know me" thing. Seriously, at some point she's going to have to insist it's not a game, and everyone will have to realize either she's gone crazy or she's got some incredibly selective amnesia, for real...

For the last couple episodes or so, I've noticed Kallen referring to herself by the surname Kozuki instead of Stadtfeld, but... I have no recollection of the first time her true name was actually mentioned.

I'm pretty sure Kozuki was her mother's name. Stadtfeld is her father's last name, and he's Britanian. Her mother is Japanese, and since she is rebelling against Britania it makes sense to use Kozuki. Plus I'm pretty sure she hates her father.

Well, this week's ep was mostly alot of fun and amusement, which I enjoyed, but there was also some important stuff mixed in. I liked the scene between Kallen and Suzaku, and Euphie with Nunnally. And then of course, Euphie's big announcement at the end, Cornelia's reaction to it (guess Schneizel didn't get around to talking to her about it like he said he would), and Lelouch's reaction... I'm definitely very interested to see what happens next. I have a feeling it's going to be very bad, all around...
Oh yeah, and we learned something about Lloyd that I doubt surprised anyone, but I did like his line "well, I get the general idea, anyway..."
Oh yeah also, it looks like Sayoko is about to become more important than I ever would've imagined...

The horror.

teknomage: Care to elaborate what the horror exactly is? You didn't put any content in your post there, which makes it borderline spam.

Didn't want to spoil anything in case someone hadn't seen the episode. I'm not used to using spoiler tags, but I'll give it a shot, see if it works. At one point, Lelouch almost tells someone to kill himself, but closes his eye just in time to prevent the use of geass. That perhaps might have served as a warning to him for what was to come later, but alas, it did not. Even I didn't see it coming.
After the previous episode, when Euphie announced the special administrative district where Japanese and Britannians would be equals, Lelouch was terribly upset, and I was worried about what he'd do to Euphie. And this week, he was about to enact his plan. He was going to use geass on her, forcing her to shoot him, thus crumbling her public support, and bolstering his own as a martyr, once he recovered. However, something she said changed his mind, he decided to support her plan. Which came to me as a great relief, I allowed myself to relax.
And then, without sufficient warning (something happened to him, and simultaneously to Suzaku elsewhere, for some reason, but still the momentary pain didn't give a clue as to what had actually happened), his power changed. It was no longer something that required him to intend to use geass to control people's actions. It now will just happen automatically, when he tells someone to do something. Having no idea that this had happened... and this was the worst possible moment for it to happen... he was trying to explain to Euphie that he could tell people what to do. He said, "for example, if I told you to kill all the Japanese, you'd have to do it, no matter how you felt about it."
Of course he was not consciously using geass when he said that, it was an offhand comment. And yet his geass took effect. She took his gun out and shot at least one Japanese, and ordered her soldiers to do the same. Suddenly the whole area was full of knightmares killing countless Japanese. At the order of a woman who was in love with a Japanese, and who wanted to create a better world, to make Japanese and Britannians equal. She's doing the exact opposite of what she wanted. And the responsibility lies with Lelouch, who also wanted the exact opposite. The guilt must be unbearable for him, especially since he now has no choice but to use her actions, and declare that the whole thing was a trap Euphie had planned all along. Meanwhile, Suzaku is desperately trying to find Euphemia, unable to believe she would actually do this....
The horror lies not merely in the massacre, but in the personal tragedy of everyone involved, being responsible for something they never wanted...

His geass doesn't go on automatically when he orders someone, it's on all the time. Like with Mao. The geass is out of control, so he has to be very careful. But it was VERY unexpected!!

Well, of course it's on all the time. But if he's not telling someone to do something, it seems irrelevant to me...

Okay, last night was the first season finale, and it ended on quite the cliffhanger. Next week the second season starts on adult swim. I know there's been a thread here for season 2 for quite awhile, but I never looked in it, not wanting to be spoiled. What I want to know is if it would be best to continue discussing the show in this thread, or if it should be safe to look at the other thread without being spoiled? Probably just stick in this one, and besides... it doesn't seem like alot of discussing gets done, anyway. Maybe I shouldn't even bother...

Well, I think that we should stick with this thread (cuz you WILL get spoiled on the other thread), but maybe someone can change the title of the thread to include R2 in it? IDK. Yeah, not much discussing happens, but I'll try to come on here more, so count me in! I may have seen the entire series already, but I watch the new dub episodes on AS.com and I like to talk about it.
