I don't watch too much series, I know I should just don't have time anymore. But I seen a lot of movies, and one of my fave. villians is the splitpersonality/clone of the protagonist in Armitage which of course is Armtiage herself. I dig those type of anti-heros. But yeah need to see more series...

I say Nakago from Fushigi Yugi. The whole destroy the world just to get revenge on the heavens thing was pretty cool. You haven't read the manga, have you? I don't really see Akito as a villan. Don't ask me why cuz I don't know. I just don't.

Akito was pretty mean, even in the manga. I mean, physical AND mental abuse? That's pretty mean...but I don't consider it as bad as most other anime villians.

Wasn't part of the point of Furuba to see things from the "evil" person's point of view, though? Compassion & empathy, etc. etc., so the audience would see that if we'd been in Akito's place, we'd act much the same, no?

Then again I'm used to the "I WILL DESTROY THE WORLD" villan.

I don't either... inasmuch as anybody's a villain. And yeah, the megalomaniacal ones are easier to demonize (but even then... I always like the stories that show you why they got that way).

Yeah, it makes them easier to understand. But I like how in a lot of anime, it shows that nobodyis compltely bad, sometimes the villian actually thinks that he/she is doing what's right. (Sometimes not, though)

Or that they had horrible upbringings, themselves.

Horrible upbringings are overused, though. XP. I mean, once or wice, I could see....but every villian seems to have had an horrible upbringing!

^ I agree, but hey ~ if they had a normal upbringing. . . we'd have no story.

^True, that is. Not all villians have hard childhoods or bad upbringings to become villians. In fact, some of the non-villians have had hard lives or no parents, or whatever.

Eh, true, I stand corrected ~ I guess I had the earlier discussion in mind when I wrote that, particularly on Akito. But you're right, there's a full spectrum. And Kaneda, will you quit spoiling these things for me?!
