I'm luckier than all of you! Both my parents, my little brother, and much of my extended family is hooked on anime! Thank Fullmetal Alchemist, that's what got all of them in. My dad came first. I was watching FMA on TV, and there was a really cool fight scene I wanted him to see, so I dragged him into the TV room and put on the clip of Ed fighting Greed. He's quite the science wiz, so naturally he was intrigued at how the carbon in Greed's shield was changed using alchemy, and before I knew it, he was watching every episode with me.
I got Mom with the emotional stuff in episode 3(she loves soap operas) and my little brother with the comedy in episode 13. Everyone else just needed to see the movie, because the rest of my family is obsessed with history for some unknown reason.
Since getting my family into the widely known stuff, like FMA, Wolf's Rain(we LOVED this one), Last Exile, etc., I've tried the more obscure anime types lately. We're in the process of collecting the Ginga series; pretty much the only rough spot we hit there was Hiro the Ballsnatcher, but it's kept our interest. My dad's favorite character is Jerome, and my mom's favorites are the striped Kai dogs like Kagetora. My brother likes the ninja dogs, Akame, Kurojaki, Tesshin, etc.
And tonight I'm giving my parents manga-reading lessons, but my 7-YEAR-OLD brother already knows how! Ain't that sad?

Hmmm, maybe I should try that for my parents! XD My dad is history-obsessed, too. That's why he watches Ruro-Ken. My mom....loves romance, hence the Fruits Basket and other romantic manga...and serial killers...hence Death Note! MY aunt and uncle and rest of family....eh hehe....Let's just say today my cousin tried to tell me the Bible is against Japan.... .... T_T I tihnk I'm going to be disowned!

I hate it when people spout all this religious crap against anime and the like. We don't want to hear them go on about how un-Godly we are for watching it. And they only complain because many anime and manga series feature a religion besides Christianity. Anime and manga are nothing more than shows and books. Get over it!!! We aren't going to Hell for watching or reading it.

It's not like American TV is any better XD Besdes there's alot of anime that're acturally based on Christianity-type-stuff like, Chrono Crusade, D.Gray-man, and Trinity Blood..

Ah ha ha ha. My cousin(the one that told me the Bible is against Japan) watches Desperate HouseWives and all these other...INTERESTING shows. I can't say manga are any worse than that! Honestly, I tried to explain that a lot of manga and anime have Christianity! I showed her Trinity Blood...(and the X-Laws in Shaman King just t tick her off...she absolutely hates anything to do with spirits) Then my mom laughed when I made sarcastic comments about Jesus lovng Desperate Housewives.

Yes. See why Iam not too worried about wht the family thinks of manga? If they watch that crap, (Excuse me, Desperate HouseWives fans) what else is she doing? I simply read bloody, violent things. BUT AT LEAST THEY HAVE A PLOT!
