I watched this show a loooooong time ago (I think it was Gundam G, and Gundam Wing). One of the first animes I ever saw. But sadly, I remember almost nothing except that it was good.

Sorry to be a nitpick, revolverocelot, but OZ was actually a by-product of Romefeller, which is located in Europe. Remember, OZ took over the Alliance at the beginning of the series, and was led by Treize Khusrenada and Zechs, who were from Earth. Anyways, I'm glad someone made a thread to possibly my favorite anime franchise of all time. Gundam Wing was a little lame in parts, but being the first Gundam series(and one of the first animes) I watched, I still love it. The best is probably the original MSG or 08th MS Team, though both War in the Pocket and 0083 are quite good.
And please, enough about that Neon Genesis Evangelion whatchamacallit. You Eva fans should be on your knees thanking Mobile Suit Gundam and Tomino every day. Because without Gundam, there would be no Evangelion. What many people fail to realize is that MSG revolutionized the mecha genre. Tomino invented the "real robot" genre. Before Gundam came around, the idea of using robots in a military setting was practically unheard of. Tomino took it and made it work, and not only made some awesome, realistic robot designs, but also created a gripping story with great characters. And he did it thirty years ago.
And while Evangelion's fancy shmancy robots could beat up the RX-78, any character from any Gundam series could easily beat up all of those whiny, angsty brats from Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Thats true, but I wouldn't exactly call either Treize or Zechs the real bad guys. OZ soon split up into the Treize Faction and Romefeller Foundation after Treize resigns, but the real bad guys, the ones who planned Operation Meteor and all, was the Barton Foundation, who were from space, as we learn in Endless Waltz. As for the second paragraph, I couldn't have said it better myself.

ok I'm sorry if I'm changing the subject a bit, but gundam seed destiny is iritating >_>
gundam wing was the best in my opinion, good balance between story and action, a lot of great characters and so on.
I've stopped watching gundam seed because I have no hair on my head left. What a truly annoying show this is. I kinda liked gundam seed, but seed destiny... no... The characters you started to like in seed and the ones who have gain your respect seem to fail to fulfil the expectations in seed destiny. Athrun and Kira went through a lot of events during gundam seed, it was all about them maturing into wise and strong soldiers, no wise and strong people. But now they're often being used to give the new leading characters more credit, cause when you can out bluff people like Athrun and Kira you're the 'man' It's annoying.. I feel more sympathy to the old leading characters then the new ones, the new ones are plain yeah... annoying.. >_>.
Also every time people start debating, things get really annoying. For example: Athrun gets his Equus asinus wooped every time he's in a debate.. He even lets some 16 year old little brat who thinks to know it all walk all over him, and I absolutely hate that character! I'm talking about shinn, he’s a new and hasn’t gone through the same process as Athrun, yet he’s able to out bluff Athrun. The things he says aren’t even correct in my opinion. Athrun who should be so much smarter then Shinn just lowers his head and let him walk all over him.
Later on in the series a few things happen and things get unclear on who really are the enemy in the show, at least that's what the creators are trying to achieve. Athrun does seem to understand the situation, and when he ends up in a debate once more, he fails to win again, even though he was holding the trump cards. During that scene I was going like:"darn it!! you little wuss!! tell the guy how the things really are!! no no no!! C'monn!! *ugh* forget it, you're worthless" >_>
And this is just one factor that I find annoying. I despise almost every character in the show, except those who survived gundam seed and are brought back. Shinn for example is supposed to be the new leading character, but he’s a little brat with to big of an attitude. And even though I’ve tried to give him a chance I just don’t seem to be able to like him. At one point during the series he falls in love with an enemy, named Stellar. This girl is crazy in her mind and has a vocabulary of 30 words. I can’t explain it, but when you watch the show you can see why she’s annoying. (even though there’s a story behind, but I just can’t seem to like her) Anyway: She gets to pilot this new weapon, with this weapon she wipes out Berlin and several other cities which don’t get named. She must have killed over 10000s of people! Perhaps even close to millions of people! And when Kira stops her and kills her, Shinn goes after Kira cause he shouldn’t have killed her! Bad Kira, how could you have saved the rest of Europe by killing a character who isn’t even ‘human’, nor is completely sane in her head. Bad Bad Kira. dang you Shinn! What’s wrong with you *ugh*…
Look I could go on and explain the things I dislike about every character, but I don’t think that’s necessary.
Grtz, Ignite

Most true gundam fans hate Destiny too, so to the point where they don't acknowledge it's existence.
Seed was pretty good, but i disliked Destiny as well. The only high point was when they introduced Heine who was totally owning Stellar's Gundam with just a Gouf. Only to be killed like a chump not 20 seconds later.

Yeah, I wasnt much of a SEED or SEED destiny fan, either. I stopped watching it after the first few episodes, I really couldn't stand it. IMO, the originals were the, and still are, the best Gundam series' out there.

I only happened to catch the GS and GSD part of Gundams, the earlier ones I didn't see. But I loved GS! I'm not that big of a fan of GSD, but the animation is better (not story-wise though.) My fave characters are Athrun, Yzak, and Rei!
