One shojo I've gotten into lately is Kitchen Princess. It sounds rather fluffy (and it is!), which is something I don't usually go for, but strangely, somehow this one works. It's got your basic plot elements: girl with no parents must choose between bad-boy type and good-boy type, both impossibly handsome, while the jealous classmates try to plot her downfall while hints are dropped at further intrigue. Yeah, standard, but there are a few things I like about this series (besides the bishies ) : One, it's not afraid of addressing serious issues. It doesn't shy away from things young people these days need to discuss. Two, it hasn't got a shred of magic, sparklys, or unicorns... people just work things out on their own. The main character's special power is, get this, cooking (a love for which she inherited from her parents). Three, it's got heart. There is a genuine feel to it that is just missing from some manga. Plus, for you Fruits Basket fans... the main character is kind of like a cross between Tohru and Kagura. Oh, and did I mention that the recipes for every dish cooked are included at the end of the book?

Akito is really a woman. I'm ticked because Akito was the hottest one.

I think that adds better to the story. IT explains why she is the way she is. And there's more explanations to come.

I admit, that was a shock. And, I am unimpressed with Shigure's choice of girlfriend. Sure, Akito's had a bad life, but I don't think that's any excuse for being such a meanie. (Swearing is ba~d! :3) But my favorite shojou is Ouran High School Host Club. Tamaki is such an idiot, and TamaHaru is such a cute couple. (Sorry, KyouyaHaruhi fans)

Ouran High School Host Club is the only reason I started getting into Shojo mangas so it holds a special place for me. Fruits Basket is ok I guess, but the end wasn't quite what I was expecting.
I believe Inuyasha falls under the adventure type of anime that can't be categorized by male or female types since it carries even elements of both.
(Tama/Haru 4 eva!)

Ninja_Wolfie, I agree that it's no excuse. But I must be the only Shigure/Akki fan here.XD At the end of the series, they show her wearing women's clothes, and she's very pretty! Trust me, she gets better (but yet, she does get worse before she gets better).

To add to the Furuba spoilers: Actually, they seem to go together very well for me. ;D But perhaps that has to do with having been spoiled on The Big Secret before I ever got into the manga. I'll always wonder how Furuba would have seemed to me if I hadn't known ~ better, or worse? Plus, I'm having the hardest time not letting it accidentally slip to others. Two other shojo I find eternally funny are Azumanga Daioh and his other recent creation, Yotsuba.
