^^Mai not siding with Zuko would make her whole character pointless. I mean, she and Ty Lee are kinda superfluous if you think about it; Azula never uses them for the really important fights. I think if Mai's crush doesn't ultimately lead to her changing allegiance it's all been a waste of time, effort, paper and celluloid on the creators' part. And somehow, I think they are smarter than that. Mai's character will become more important in S3. Right now, she's not particularly important, but as the plot developes in S3, she could become important entirely in her own right (not simply because she's in lurve with Zuzu). We don't know how Azula and her group's storylines will develop in S3. Zuko could end up in a situation where his life or his freedom depended on Mai helping him. If Mai doesn't, it could have a dramatic effect on the storyline. I was referring to a different gun. The one shown in "The Blue Spirit" ("do you think we could have been friends?"), and late during the BSS arc where Uncle was talking about how Zuko would be a beautiful prince who'd choose good and stuff. Heck, I wanted Zuko to join Azula, and I was still surprised (I was sure once he and Katara started getting all buddy-buddy, he wasn't going to choose Azula. And then he did ) Well, Azula's going to tell Zuko what he wants to hear in order to get him to trust her. What Zuko wants is redemption; of course she'll offer it. What isn't clear is whether her redemption is genuine or not. Borat: Azula tell truth to Zuko..... NAWWTTTT. Mmmm, I'm not sure where I lie in th "is Azula telling the truth". She might have been using him as her tool to take down Aang and Katara, because let's face it people, Katara was whoopin' butt out there xD. As for Mai going against her, I don't know. It's a possibility, I think she would...maybe.

If Mai doesn't, it could have a dramatic effect on the storyline. It would be dramatic, but I just don't see what purpose it would serve--besides just another kick in the groin for Zuko. Oh yes, there's that other "gun" too---the "beautiful prince he was always meant to be" gun. I think he just had to shoot the "I must capture the Avatar to restore my honor" gun first to get it out of the way first. Personally, I don't like the idea of Zuko joining the Gaang. It offers too many cliches. I wanted it at first, but in the end it made the S2 finale so much better. Yeah, I'm glad he didn't side with the Gaang. It would have reduced him to a sidekick. I like him better as the conflicted adversary who has his own story.

Yeah, I was wondering what happened. Anyways, all I care about is the context and meaning of the kiss.

maybe they kissed because they like each other? Impossible. If Maiko actually is canon the writers would never give away something that important so early. Seriously though, I don’t buy the "zomg Maiko is a red herring!!" thing is because romance on Avatar has always been obvious. All the arrows have been pointing towards Mai/Zuko so the S3 clip showing there will be some Mai/Zuko (we don’t know the context of the kiss after all) hardly seem like a huge spoiler. I’m not saying Maiko is totally canon but the kiss being a "fangirl dream" of Mai’s, or something along those lines, makes no sense and I think Zuko or Mai using each other to get what they want is OOC.

Saying that kiss is Mai's dream is going beyond grasping at straws.
The creators have been hinted at this forever
