I'm just thinking that while Aang might not choose a life without marriage and children, the world might force it on him because he is in essence a semi-deity and people don't like their deities getting married and making babies. Tell that to the Greeks. ((Sorry, but we're studying them in school right now...and it's a massive god orgy of incest and...stuff.... )) Either way...Aang has never acted as if he can't like Katara. That's the deciding factor for me. Even if he is supposed to remain chaste and celibate and all that jazz because he's a monk, he's never acted as if he intends to remain chaste and celibate. I have yet to see Aang beating himself because of his unpure thoughts, so at this point I think whether he is a monk or not is pretty irrelevant in a relationship that's as deep as Aang is ready to go at this point. Aang has never acted like he won't go there--he was totally open to kissing Katara, and from his expression he probably had daydreamed about it before.

Greeks are the inventors of... Nvm
Anyway, I had a strange theory that maybe Aang would realize he was the last airbender and make more! I mean, it's notike he was castrated or anything...
Oh, snap, that's a very real possibility...

A while back on another forum, before the airing of The Fortuneteller, I asked whether Aang's allegid monk status would prevent him from seeking romance. Aang has since then shown where he stands on the issue by being the worst monk ever, moving up to the ranks of Kuririn and Miroku. (that Omi from Xiaolin Showdown seems suspect as well) Nevertheless, do you think there will be a time where Aang must make a decision one way or another concerning this? Or do the airbender monks actually allow marriage and children, unlike their real-life cousins the Tibetian monks? I posted a long post a while back about Eastern monks and such, but I can't remember which thread I posted it at. Okay. (takes deep breath and types) Are you familiar with Kung Fu: The Legend Continues? The main character Kuay Chang Caine is a Shaolin Monk who has a wife and son. Can't remember the wife ever being at the temple but he and his son lived at the temple. From what I know, certain sects of Tibetan Buddhism (upon which the Air Nomad culture appears to be based upon) do not have the celibacy requirement. And... XD There are actually ?monks? who engage in religious sexual practices. Just look up Tantric Buddhism. And lol... I even once saw a documentary entitled 'The Temple of the Kama Sutra'. And it was a serious scientific archaelogical documentary. In India, there are temples adorned with rated sculptures. Religion and sexuality aren't mutually exclusive in some cultures. Also just because a person has a religious occupation (such as a priest/monk/reverend/etc.) it doesn't automatically mean they can't marry and have a family. It really depends on the type of religion. For example, as a Roman Catholic, when I was a child I found it surprising that Protestant Christian reverends can get married and have family since RC priests can't. Lastly, even if Aang belongs to a religion in which monkhood = celibacy, he can choose to give up monkhood. Marriage and family is just as important and holy, so to speak.

They turn on little boys in stead. Ba-Zing!
But if they were celibate, is castration a possibility? I mean, if they weren't supposed to have kids....
