Because the obvious usually happens, unless we stage a massive uprising to rally for Zutara, Kataang will likely happen. I mean Jet and Zuko are/were pretty much in the same situation in their relationship with Katara. Jet, of course, gained her sympathy when he was hurt. Katara offered to help Zuko and Iroh, but Zuko turned her away. The least I'm hoping for is that they'll be friends. Which they'll have to be, if Aang is to learn firebending from a "willing" hand. Not in this shows case, the obvious turns to some twist and it's a shocking surpirse. Just look at BaSS, it's the safe haven from the Fire Nation, yet when we reach inside the walls, BaSS isn't what we thought it would be. |

I doubt we'll see Zutara, this show would definatly lean towards the "cute" couple for it's target audience.

Zutara and Kataang are two very diffrent shipps in my opinion. Kataang is a shipp, that builds up during the shows development, it is depended on evidances and canon, it's easier to shipp it, because you have something solid to discuss and speculate on, but it can sink during the show pretty easily, if evidances for a contradicting shipp come up like Taang, Zutara, Jetara and so on. Zutara is a shipp, that is created by tension and symbolism, it doesn't depend on evidances and it has chances to become canon near the end of the show (somewhere in season 3 in the Avatars case), it is hard to shipp, because you have to be patient and wait and you could be dissapointed, if it does not happen although you may have to stay true to it till the very end, but canon moments or evidances for other shipps don't do nearly any harm to it. |

And what I meant by "obviously" was that the chances are somewhat unlikely because of how popular Avatar is. I mean the two biggest shipping parties seem to be the Kataangs and the Zutarians. And while we can expect some twists in the episodes and seasons to come, for Katara and Zuko to form a relationship would be a long process, where things can and will happen, not necessarily in our favor. Not that they haven't occurred before...

I agree. As much as I like this ship, it would be pretty difficult for the creators to build up a relationship between the two over just one season.
