Shan snorted derisively.
"The man is a complete grouch," she explained, "but he's brilliant. I guess all teachers have to be jerks, especially the great ones."

Kaori shakes her head, "I'm not sure. Maybe they all went into the city. I was hoping you could tell me what happened to them." She gave a warm smile, "But yes, let's see if the chief knows of somebody who can teach me."

Lucy giggled softly. "I suppose you're right...my master had a mean streak in him, but he wasn't all that bad."

Sosei heard a distant noise, it sounded like some kind of gathering. "I think that we will find everyone over there," he said pointing toward where the noise was comming from.

Omni noticed that Lucy was seated next to Shan and smiled. She got up to go say hello, then realized that it would be rude to intterupt their conversation. Yugoda looked up at her.
"Where are you going?" She asked curiously. Omni realized she looked silly just standing there so she excused herself.
"I-i'll be right back." Omni said. Yugoda winked.
"I understand." She replied. Omni smiled and laughed quietly. As she left, she noticed that several young men looked after her as she walked briskly out of the hall. Blushing slightly, she quickened her pace. She had known that she was getting older, she would be sixteen soon, and that maybe she was starting to atract some attention. Somehow, this mad her think of Horyo and the time she had hugged him on the ship's deck. It may have seemed meaningless, but she had liked Horyo and she hoped he was doing okay. She couln'd understand why he had just left.
When she returned, she could see Master Pakku talking with Cheif Arnook and the Avatar. Only a boy... she thought. She had seen him before, when they came into the city, but it was strange to see him closer. She couldn't imagine having the responsibility that he had. Omni sat down again next to the healer who nudged her gently in the ribs.
"Feeling better?" She asked slyly. Omni smiled.

"Yugoda's not too bad," Shan replied. "She's rather nice. She teaches over at the healing huts."

Tetsuo went to the deck of the firenation ship and looked north. He could not wait to destroy that wretched place.
Tetsuo was playing in the snow with his friend, San. But Tetsuo fell down and cut his hand on the ice. "Dont worry Tetsuo," said San, "Yugoda taught me how to make cuts get better!" The girl began to bend the blood in Tetsuo's hand, clotting it to stop the bleeding. She begane to manipulate the water in the skin to sew up the cut, but she made a mistake. Tetsuo collapsed, as he felt his stomache being crushed by the blood in his muscles.
"That girl will pay for what she did. All of the waterbenders must die. Because of them i have become a monster, and they will come to regret what they have done. I want to hear Pakku and San beg for mercy before i blow open their skulls."

Shan reached for the bowl of stewed sea prunes. She moaned with delight as she placed a spoonful into her mouth. She missed their taste since her journey back home began again weeks before.

The moon was a crescent form, dancing in the sky as the waves below it danced along. General Cho felt the chill of the air, it was becoming colder, small pieces of ice could be seen, and frost on the windows.
"General Cho, tell me our position." Zhao asked. "Admiral Zhao, we should be due towards the North in a few weeks." "And the ice?" He countered. "The ice is part of the drifting of the wave, and besides if we reach the North, we won't know where to go..." General Cho answered, and departed after saying "Good night General Zhao." However Zhao was silent, ignoring any mark of admiration in Cho's tone. "Cho...I'll strip you of your position soon enough...hehe...and strip the Northern water Tribe of its glory..."

Lucy took a bite of some of her food. "I did take a few lessons from her on healing a few days before tonight...she is an amazing healer." Lucy commented.

Kaori blinks, a little bit dissappointed with the sudden change of topics. She listened to the commotion, "Oh yeah, sounds like there are alot of people. Let's go check it out!"

Shan felt her mother touch her shoulder.
"Shan," her mother said, "your birthday has past by a while ago, hasn't it?"
"I didn't really celebrate it that much," Shan answered. She failed to explain that she didn't celebrate because she had been held hostage by a very pyscotic Waterbender, the very same that gave her her scars, and by the time she had been rescued, she had spent a great deal of her time hiding in her room. Zaka, she hadn't seen him or his Little Shan since they ported, seemed like the only who actually cared what was going on. She said that she would not be broken, but inside she felt like she had cracks in her soul, cracks that if not mended would finally break her apart like a cracked water jug exposed to the cold.
"Well," her mother added, "your father and I have something to show you. I guess it's both birthday and a wedding gift."
"That sounds nice," Shan replied, smiling.

Lucy smiled sideways as she listened to Shan's and her mothers conversation. She didn't much remeber her own mother. Memories flew from her mind and came back at the most random moments. She sighed quietly and hugged pushed her plate away from her.

Sosei led Kaori toward where the noise was coming from. When they arrived they discovered it was a feast of some sort. Sosei saw Shan and was going to aproach her, but then he remember what he had told Kaori. He looked up and saw the masters table, "I would bet that that would be the place where you could find a master." he said pointing at the table with the cheif and master Pakku.
