Personality:[/u] Lien, is a quiet, more peaceful person, but she is a little emotional and very practical. As she doesn't like violence (as in hurting or killing people). She dreams big and is hopes that they shall be fulfilled. If they aren't then she gets quite stubborn. She also, has a passion for firebending. Most of the day, she either firebends of does the many chores/work that she required to do.
History:[/u] Lien was born in a firenation village, to a rather poor family which consisted of her mother, father, older sister, and older brother. In her childhood days, since she was poor, she had to either work in the fields farming with her father and brother or in the house with her mother and sister. There was usually not much time for fun and games. So she was brought up with a more serious attitude toward things and with a close relationship with her family (more to her siblings).
Once Lien was 5 years of age, her family had salvaged enough money to put her brother in classes to learn firebending so he could soon join the army. As soon as she heard, she was so eager and excited, for she wanted to learn firebending too. So she had asked father, but he disapproved. They had said that there was so much work to be done since now one more person was gone, they didn't have enough money to support the family and send her, and that it was not proper for a girl to learn firebending. Though at first her hopes were destroyed, she decided that she would learn firebending. So one day when her brother and she was alone, she asked if he could teach her what he had learned each day. At first he was hesitant, but after, a little more arguing and persistant bothering he finally gave in and taught her in secret.
Until she was 12, everything had gone well with her training. She was actually good at firebending and she had a deep passion for it. She kept up with her daily work and still had time for learning. But her brother was old enough to fight in the war, so he had to go. She was then devastated but, her brother then assured her that she would be fine and could still continue her training. She had learn all the basics. Now she just had to put together the moves. So after he left she continued her training.
One day when she was still 12, her father was forced to fight into the war too. After the fire nation had heard that her brother was fighting, they thought it was also necessary for her father too fight too. He was sent to a camp where he learned fire bending and weponary.
After Lien's father's departure, she was given the job to do the field work. While doing this she gained more strength and she didn't have much time to do fire bending. She gave it up for a while.
Every few weeks or so, Lien's brother and/or father would send a letter from the war front. She eagerly waited for them. They would describe the scene, the setting, the warriors, the strategies they would use, basically everything. After reading many of the letters she had a deep hatred for the war. Since most of her childhood was peaceful, she wasn't used to all the violence. She wasn't emotionally used to this. She was scared of what could happen to her father and brother. She didn't care who won. She just wanted it over.
When Lien was 14, her sister had goten engaged. Most of her families money was wasted on the wedding.
After the wedding was over, it was only her mom and herself living in their house. Again, she asked if she could learn firebending. Her mother actually approved with only one exception, that she had to work and pay for the fees. Lien was so thrilled that she got a job in the city and quickly started earning money. She soon took a class and started to learn firebending.
Right now, Lien is still continuing her firebending lessons. She is very skilled and is almost "close" to mastering. She also, is somewhat happy that the war is ending, but now is questioning why it had started in the first place.
