Name: Lian (yes, it is Asian)
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Nation: Water, but was born in the Swamp (which is in the EK)
Bender?: Yes
Appearance: In reality, Lian isn't much to look at. Roughly standing at 5'2", she cares little about self appearance. Unlike most of the Avatar world, she is fond of wearing her hair without any decorations, up-do's, or ornaments. The somewhat-wavy, pale brown hair simply hangs around her shoulders without a care in the world.
She has dark eyes with an almost unreadable color (brown) and pale pink lips, which stand out against tanned (think Hue from The Swamp) skin. She is pretty in a way that you don't normally see or understand; a sort of skin deep thing. Lian would be the tiniest bit chubby if she weren't a traveller- which keeps her a little malnourished and on the frailer side.
As she was born in a swamp, clothing was scarce. Lian wears relatively little because of this- she would feel suffocated in too much. Lian has only owned two pairs of pants in her life. Her legs never grew too much after 13, so a pair of pants that started out at her ankles now has been fitted that they hang a shocking good inches above her knees. Her shirt is a sleeveless garb that splits down the middle and without her undershirt of bandages, her clevage would be rather large. The shirt is tucked into a wide belt, off of which hangs a holister for paintbrushes.
She, oddly, has a fascination with bracelets and her wrists are littered with all the different variations of the kind.
Lian prefers no shoes, but as new traveller hailing from marsh, she is not used to rocks or rough paths. She is forced to wear a pair of berkinstocks-like sandals with strings that lace up her calves.
Lian firmly disbelieves in weapons. She never has much money; the use for it is still somewhat foreign to her. On her person she carries her art supplies, and so doesn't see a reason for someone to try and rob her. However, if you were to try to touch any of them, she would be prepared to fight you for them.
Personality: Being born and raised in a swamp, Lian has a very mellow and spiritual outlook on life. She doesn't believe in war and thinks people care too much about personal possesions or appearances. She's outgoing; she'll just about talk to anyone as if they've known each other since they were toddlers. Lian also thinks being a vegetarian is silly; things like food had to be well searched for where she was from, and she can't wrap her finger around passing up food like that.
Lian has always had an eye for art and can spend hours upon hours painting. She'll travel as far and spend as long as her body will allow for her art. Often her mood pours into her paintings and when she's feeling particularly down (which is rare), she'll just draw, sketch, or paint for days with little food or rest.
She fears little and plans to travel to the Fire Nation in the near future. She has a rare fear of being too close to an earthbender for reasons kept to herself, but won't mind them if they're a good 30 ft away.
History: As she heard stories of outside the swamp, Lian's heartstrings began to tug. She eventually gave in, and decided to travel the world and see it for herself.
Lian is indeed a waterbender, but doesn't use it for method fighting like Katara would. Instead, she loves bending a special type of paint she learned to make that consists mostly of water and little dye onto canvas. She makes her money only by selling her paintings, who's reputation are spreading as unique and beautiful. She likes using the style of switching between bending her paint and actually using brushes.
She covered most of the Earth Kingdom on foot, but recently purchased an ostrich-horse from a pair of fellow travellers that seemed reluctant to be rid of it. She named the creature Fancy Feet, and even commemorated a painting on the people she had bought him from. Lian loves painting the people and places she has seen, to, as she says, "Create a journal for the world to see."
Opinion of the war: Lian finds it petty and silly. She hasn't quite grasped the seriousness of it all yet. It is her beliefs that though mankind is flawed, they are not flawed enough to commit a mass genocide.
