Ling travelled around gathering information and learning new things. He encountered many fire-nation war-crimes, and by 20, took a vow at the Great Divide to fight against the unjustice his people had wrought on the world. He learned that the avatar had returned some-time later. He was joyful for this, as it might be the last chance for the world.
