Name: Haruka Kinmotsu
Age: 14
Gender: Female
Nation: Earth Kingdom
Bender: No
Physical Appearance: Haruka has long, sleek, chocolate brown hair that falls to the middle of her back and frames her face. Her eyes are an enchanting green, and are an icy-green, much lighter than normal. She is not the tallest of people, she barely reaches 4'6", making her shorter than most. Her skin is quite fair for someone who is almost always outside, and she has a mostly clear complexion naturally.
Clothing/Armor: Haruka wears a long, olive green cloakish jacket that has long sleeves and is mid-thigh length. It has no zipper, buttons, or hood, and the fabric is very thin. Underneath the long jacket, she wears a cream colored shirt that is a bit like a robe. To put it on, she would have to put her arms through the short-sleeved holes and fold the cloth across her torso as you would do with a robe. A green sash/belt that is wide when viewed vertically would be tied around where her waist curve to hold the shirt shut. The bottom of the shirt ends a little down her hips.
She also wears capris that are a bit baggy at where they end and are the same color green as the sash and the jacket. The bottom of the capris end at about three and a half inches above her ankle and hug the part where they end. Her shoes are a lighter green than the capris and are more like slippers that have a back to them, and are made out of fabric, except for the soles which are thick animal skin.

Haruka has been trained in the martial arts style of Meihuaquan, or the "Plum Flower." Meihuaquan is a style of Kung Fu that originated in the Northern provinces of China. Founded centuries ago, Meihuaquan has no single founder. Meihuaquan is characterized by five static positions intermixed with dynamic motion comprised of light rapid footwork and large flowing movements. The simple expansive stature and poise built-in Meihuaquan releases and strengthens the flow of energy to expand and free the mind. The basic training methods in Meihuaquan are simple and strong yet relaxed and highly adaptable.
Today, Meihuaquan is practiced by both young and old people around the world. It is an excellent method to develop self-defense skills and improve overall health. It tones the body, prevents and helps recover from illness, and brings strength and flexibility.
Training in Meihuaquan includes the eighteen types of traditional weapons as well as rarely seen weapons. Masters of Meihuaquan have a relaxed physical look and are free from rigidity in both thought and body postures. Meihuaquan's four benefits are improved health, self-defense skills, helping with sickness and disease, and improved mental ability.

Haruka is also able to wield the Japanese weapon, nunchaku, which is also known as nun-chucks in the U.S. When used in combat, the nunchaku provide the obvious advantage of an increase in the reach of one's strike. Although somewhat difficult to control, the rope or chain joint of the nunchaku adds the benefit of striking from unexpected angles. Practitioners of the flashier styles contend that the motion of the nunchaku is often found distracting by opponents, who may have trouble keeping up with the nunchaku's rapid movement. In addition, the reach of the nunchaku is often underestimated, even by those experienced with its use.
The original Okinawan techniques involve holding the weapon in a variety of preparatory postures. Once an opponent has moved their weapon or body into close range, the nunchaku is used to strike vital spots, and apply joint locks, chokes and other control techniques.
Haruka was taught both of these things by her older brother, whom began to study them before going to help fight in the war. She isn't a master, but she isn't a novice either. For example, in a fight with Yume facing Ty Lee/Mai, Ty Lee/Mai would win.
Personality: Haruka was born into the family of a fairly rich noble, but not all-mighty super rich like most. Many people would believe this makes her stuck up and snobby, but it is quite the opposite in her case. She has always loved animals and nature, and cares about them very much. She is quite the dreamer, and is often lost in her own world.
However, when she sets her mind to something, there is almost nothing that she can't accomplish. This is true because Haruka is both a quick learner, and a thinker. She understands most things well and is always open to new ideas. When angered, Haruka is not the one to talk to. She can be very rude to he one her anger is directed to, and arrogant
On the other side, Haruka is enthusiastic about many things and LOVES to travel. She can be quiet and idealistic as well as energetic and kind. She has befriended many different people, and values those relationships above all.
History: Haruka Kinmotsu was born in the Earth Kingdom city of Ba Sing Se along with her brother, Kenage Kinmotsu, whom is five years older than her. Growing up, they had a rather neutral relationship. Basically, it was like this, "You don't bother me then I don't bother you." However, as they grew older, they began to get along well, and Kenage began to train his younger sister for her own sake. He attempted to teach her Houquan, which is the Monkey style of Chinese martial arts which uses agile yet jerky movements. Instead, Haruka began to develop her own style of the "Plum Blossom." Having a very fun time learning martial arts, Haruka got her father to hire a professional nunchaku specialist to teach her to use the nunchaku.
Everything in Haruka's life seemed to be going well, until at the age of 10, her brother was sent off to war, and later was reported dead. This greatly saddened Haruka because she and her brother had grown so close. And to top things off, her mother died about a year later from pneumonia, leaving Haruka and her father.
It was rather awkward because Haruka and her father rarely conversed before the loss of their family. It wasn't that they disliked each other, more of they never got the chance to speak in the first place. Thinking it to be the best for Haruka, her father sent her to live with her Aunt Shao Ren in the Northern Earth Kingdom. Shao Ren's house was a rather small house because she lived alone. However, it was still a lovely place to live. Even though they were relatives, Haruka felt no connection to her aunt and merely stayed because her father wished for her to. If given the chance, Haruka would leave in a heartbeat.
Currently, Haruka works with her aunt in her flower shop; just as a hobby, but she still gets paid. And when alone, Haruka will practice her martial arts, and rarely will practice the nunchaku, not forgetting the face of her beloved brother who had helped her so long to become as skilled as she was.
I'm sorry if that sounds noobish. >.< Technically, I am a noob because I've only RPd a few times for Avatar, and I'm not very good with coming up with History for characters.
