Awhile back a problem developed with my WMM. First of all, when I would try to play clips, I'd get sound, but the preview screen would just be black. There was an error message that mentioned a missing dll file, which I downloaded, and after that the clips would play properly... but that's before I drag them to the timeline. If I try to play clips in the timeline, I get the same problem, audio but no video. And there isn't any sort of error message, so I have no idea what's wrong. I've tried downloading new copies of WMM but it hasn't cleared anything up. I've tried running scans for like viruses and things, but that doesn't help. I've heard that WMM can have trouble playing certain video formats, but I don't buy that because it never had any problem for me before, and I'm using the same video files I always did.
I've tried looking for freeware video editors, and the few I've tried, I just can't figure out how to use at all. And every video editor I've seen that you have to buy pretty much costs an insane amount of money. You know, I used to think I'd never buy something like that since I'm not a professional and all I want to do is make amateur AMVs, but after this problem I started thinking maybe I would buy one, and before I looked at prices I thought I might pay up to $30 or so for a program, and just be willing to feel completely ripped off at that price. After looking at prices I'm thinking if I could find a decent program I'd be willing to save up and pay $50 if I could find one at that price, and feel extremely ripped off. But most video editors seem to cost in the hundreds of dollars, and there's no way I'm going to pay that just to make AMVs. No, $50 is the absolute maximum I would ever remotely consider paying. So... I have two questions. Does anyone know a good video editor in that price range, or even a good free one? Or... can anyone please tell me how to fix my stupid WMM?

you can save a picture in a couple of ways. If you looking at the picture in thumbnail(smallveiew) you can right lick and click (save target as) don't save as picture with a thumbnail it will only save the small version. if you open the picturer so its in it own broswer window you can either save in the file menu or page menu depeding on what version of Internet eplorer your running. you can also right click and save pcitre as. Also if the clips you want are from dvd captures they will be off better qulity but its hard to notices unless your looking at them in full screen hope that helps.

Can I get the clips from iTunes episode downloads, or are they protected from modification?

If it's that, then there's nothing you can really do. My WMM was like that for a while, so I quit messing with it and it sort of corrected itself.
Something that's free to download and is supposedly like WMM (although I don't know that much) is Sony Vegas.

Hi, thanks for the tutorial! I'm attempting to make my first music video, but i seem to have a problem. :/ I have a different version of WMM from you (the one that comes with Windows Vista, i think), but hopefully someone can help. I was in "random experiment mode," and i clicked on a command that created smaller clips out of a larger video segment. The problem is that a lot of footage is missing from the middle of one of the clips--the footage is all still on the original video segment, but whenever i try to import the original, the clips show up instead. It's kind of frustrating, since i need the missing footage for my muvid. Anyway, whatever help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance! Edit: Never mind--I worked out a solution by cutting a smaller clip than i had before (which was fine, because it was still more than i needed) by means of a different program i have called DVD Shrink 3.2. *goes into spasms of first muvid EVER excitement* Thanks again for that tutorial! (And it turns out that i don't think my version of WMM is different after all--it was just on a different setting. Hehe.)
