Eep. I didn't mean to upset you gambitia. The type of situation I'm talking about is one where he's having a tantrum and complaining about his life. I'm not sure she'd know what to do...

Well, first off, I don't think Zuko would do that to a girl--secondly, Song's a healer. She hears a lot of things from a lot of different people--what will she do? She'll listen! Sometimes that's just enough and all that needs to be done.

I really like Song. I hope we see her again and I am absolutely head over heels at the idea for a Zuko+Song romance:)

Bumped just because I want to hear everyone’s opinion on Song now that she's has been away for a while.
Anywho, I liked Song bunches. Not because I ship Soko and want her to make out with Zuko but because, well, she’s mature and honest. She didn’t show malice toward the Fire Nation, or mope around and wallow in self-pity, even though they took her father and scarred her. Instead of saying “oh woe is me!” she goes out and helps people. I think we’ll eventually see her again because, imo, she has unfinished business with Zuko.

Good idea, Ana, now that's it's been almost a year since she was on the show, there can be level-headed responses, not "OMG I HATE HER SHE WAS WITHIN A FOOT OF ZUKO fgfdh!!"
Anyway, I really do have a soft spot for Song, and I do enjoy her character. She's not an extremely strong bender that can defend herself against many people, like Toph, Katara, or Azula. No, she's strong in a different way, one that I can really relate to. She's been through so much, her father has been taken away from her, and is very likely dead, and she was driven from her home, and burned.
Yet, through all of that, you don't see her crying, or moping because life went & pulled the floor out from under her feet. No, she found a way to pull herself together and live on, and can even help others by trying to help peoples' ailments, physical, or sometimes, even emotional, as seen with Zuko.
And as a result, I really want to see her come back one last time, before the season is out, since she does have business to finish.

Still like Songs character lots. ;D I found her refreshing. Her choice to heal as a method of "fighting" is pretty wicked in the story. (Healers are always needed in times of war!) And she was very nice and polite. It was fun how she slapped Irohs hand and kind of her to invite Junior and Mushi to dinner. Although it's a shame Zuko stole from her, the connection they had- for that moment on the porch- was beautiful. Here's to hoping to see her again. My point is that you need someone strong and confident enough to challenge Zuko in a way to capture his interest as well as keep him interested. I'll admit Song has the strenght in her to help him heal, but whether or not she has the spark that will draw him in the first place is debatable. And again, I'll admit I might be wrong since we've only seen... like... five minutes of their interaction on screen. I don't know how it'll work out in the end. But from what I saw at the moment, Zuko's gonna need someone very 'outstanding' to catch his attention if they want to be a 'potentiol love interest' for him. Song's just a little bit too normal, I guess, if that makes sense. Once again, this is just my opinion. I see your point but I disagree that Songs too, as you put, "normal" to be a romantic interest for Zuko. From what I saw of her she has enough personality to keep a relationship with Zuko exciting. It might be a relatively peaceful relationship, but that doesn't mean it can't be adventurous. It really is digging into opinion, because I myself believe Song to be an outstanding character, for her choosing not to resent the fire nation to the point of losing herself, as various other characters have, and for deciding to help in time of war; not sit and mope and whine when she has the chance to make a difference, no matter how small. It really is opinion then, there. (What a late reply of me too...>< Aw, well.) To each his own though; that's what makes the world so... intriguing...? opinions vary. gambitia: Thank you! Why is it that physical fighting seems to be the nudge toward "true" strength? There are various definitions, just like you pointed out; it sucks that cool healers get the backbone of the wishbone. >,< @inuyaata: Agreed...;_; But if there are those who can see a bit of Songs strength, then that's good. XD

I think that if we don't see or hear of Song at least when the third season's half over...that she'll pop up in the very last episode with Zuko returning her emuhorse! ;D Just that would make me happy. There just needs to be some closure between them, you know? And I still want to see her slap him for stealing her property ;D

I really hope her potential doesn't get ignored. The one thing I want more than closure for Song and Zuko's situation is Song and Katara to interact. Katara's been through a lot, she deserves to be able to have some honest to goodness girl-talk. I find it strange that she didn't manage this with Yue, or Suki. And I think it'd be really cool (and get some folks off of Katara AND Song's back) if Katara finally had a big sister figure, which Song could fill perfectly.

I feel like Song fulfiled her purpose as a character. She was just a wake up call for Zuko, letting him know the effects of the war.
Song want to touch Zuko's scar, he pushes her hand away. Katara wants to touch Zuko's scar, he lets her. Zutara > Soko.

You have a point, though I saw Katara's touching his scar as more of a "let me see if I can heal it" touch than Song's pointless-yet-emotional attempt.

Katara wants to touch Zuko's scar, he lets her. Zutara > Soko. You also have to realize that Zuko was a different person at the start of the season then he was at the end (dispite the outrage fandom went through from his betrayal); If, for some reason, he and Katara were in a similar situation that early on (like many Zutarians thought was going to happen in CoTL...) he would have been stand-offish to Katara as well. With each character he meets one-on-one (Song, Lee, Jin) he opened up more, and his time with Katara was simply a climax of that. Before it came crashing down anyway. The scar touching, if anything, shows how much Zuko has changed. If Song were to appear again it would be interesting to see her reaction to his changes, if she runs into him again. If she runs into the gAang it would be interesting to see the banter between her and Katara about their experiences with him. XD; Song is a very good character to help further character deveolpment, especially since she already has a nice solid backstory, and depending on situation she could help further plot as well. And also, claiming one ship is better then another = LAME. And people wonder why shipwars start...

Thank you, Aqua. I was about to say...how arrogant. =\
I also agree, how is it that everyone sees the touching of the scar as 'OMG ZUTARA!!!ONE!1' when it was really a show of just how Zuko has developed over the season? Come on, with a title like 'CROSSROADS of DESTINY'--who is that going to apply to in the more literal sense?
I honestly believe it's gonna take more than five minutes of supposed Zutara to undo a couple of seasons of Kataang.
Back on topic, Song and Lee have a good buildup of background to work with as recurring characters--except Lee has already made his decision on Zuko, so if it changes, it'll probably be when everything is all over and FN has been defeated--even then, that's stretching it. Wartime grudges are stubborn things. We don't have something quite as concrete from her, and I believe it leaves an opening for potential growth.
Of course, I'm banking on her next appearance as an introduction to the Gaang. Not joining it, persay, but meeting them at least.

I hope it's not a bad thing to revive an old thread..
But seriously folks, the episode with Song was the one that totally caught my attention. My younger sis was laying around watching Nick, and I was just about to complain to her to stop watching dumb cartoons and to do something active--
And then I saw her dress.
Then, I was just- "ZOMG KOREAN DRESS! FINALLY THEY'RE RECOGNIZING THE KOREAN CULTURE!"
And I see how pretty Song is and how smiley she is. I really liked her.. and back then, knowing virtually nothing about the show, I thought she was a recurring character.. and I went back to my room.
But really folks, they don't introduce a pretty character like that for nothin'. She had colored lips. They don't color random girls' lips that nice, soft pink- see Ummi. They made her pretty. As pretty as Ursa. Sorry for my sparsed sentences... ugh sparsed.. ponderosa pine *shot*
I'm Song- crazy as of now. Seriously, screw school. Fer now at least.
And to answer that question about Song's name from all those months ago-
Korean names don't have meanings. Not that I know of at least, and I'm full Korean. There are no poetic meanings to names, and they are all one to two syllables.
My sister's name is a bit different though- her Korean name is Borah, roughly translated into "purple." I do not know why they named her that... And usually, parents name all their children with the same first syllable and a different second one. That's the way it is in a lot of families.. except ours. I hate my Korean name, and it's pretty much nonexistent.
Non-Korean speaking people usually have a hard time pronouncing Korean names- I've heard teachers chop up and abuse a lot of Korean names at school. Sounds VERY VERY awkward.
Like the name "Ji-Eun," you probably would not know how to pronounce that. So, people would call this person "Ji." Same with Song- probably short for something, but would be weird to say for all the VAs or something.
Song's name probably does not have anything to do with music, either. I do wish Korean names had some meaning to them....
(Sidenote, pls don't bashmeh: It's really funny coz I have two friends named Ha-Jin and He-Kyo, and their last names come right after each other in the yearbook. And their names were cut up to "Ha" and "He.")

I thought Song was beautiful and tries to touch Zuko scar. Why can't Zuko let Song touch his scar? Also, Song and Zuko have something in common. . . they both got there scars from the fire nation. I doubt Zuko and Song will meet agian in the 3rd season. Also, does anyone know who's Song's mother name?
