It's only fun if there's just subtext, though. Only characters who aren't canonically openly declared gay get put in popular slash pairings. No exceptions, no matter the fandom. I don't understand it, I've just observed it. It's especially true in a lot of anime fandoms. Though Haruka/Michiru in Sailor Moon was popular, and it was canon. It really depends on what it is and what's going on, I think. When Zuko got his development in Book 2 he just kind of struck me as not being 100% into the ladies. I don't know. *shrug* Zuko's always been the one whose always been a bit asexual, is anything. Although he seems to have more chemistry with males. Hmmmmm...

^Yeah, maybe he restrained away from girls because of his experiences with Azula and her friends, and had more experience dealing with guys because he got to be on his ship like three years around with them.

If the dragons part came true...Hm... *shot* XD

Look! :D I have a Yue icon, too.
I mean, hmm... I know Maiko is canon... but I don't know, they just don't have chemistry. Their relationship was destined to end >_>;;

Haha, this latest episode with the whole Zuko and Aang omfgz dancing scene definetly makes me think twice about Zukaang. They looked so good together, and it seemed a little to comfortable for "just friends". And after more thinking I wonder what they did all night while they were stuck in that muddy goop? *hint,hint* I mean, I always loved the idea of them being friends, but now their taking it up to the next level. Its about time! XD So could this ship be considered canon? I mean there is so much evidence. Look! :D I have a Yue icon, too. I mean, hmm... I know Maiko is canon... but I don't know, they just don't have chemistry. Their relationship was destined to end >_>;; /off topic Even though its off-topic, I'm inclined to agree. Maiko seemed so out of place to me, and kinda random. Its no wonder it has fallen flat on its face.

While I saw Maiko coming, if it's not endgame I won't shed any tears.
I would actually be thrilled if Nick let a gay relationship play out on their channel. But I won't be *too* surprised. Drake and Josh did a mock-kiss and they let that air.

I actually love Maiko, just because it's like the emo couple. But I'm not heartbroken about the end of it.

I bet people will take thsi the wrong way, but all this stuff about Azula being lesbian because she clicks so well with Ty lee and Zuko and Aang being gay because they click so well, it depresses me. Romantic and sexual are not the only types of relationships that can be formed between human beings. All this chemistry and getting along can be indicative of friendship, too, because in spite of what rabid shippers and Freud say, there is such a thing as "being friends." If any positive interaction must be interpreted as Romantic, what indicates just Friendship? I can't jump and believe everyone who feels comfortable with a member of the same sex is therefore homosexual.
And yet, even considering all that, Zukaang still has more to stand on than Zutara.

I would actually be thrilled if Nick let a gay relationship play out on their channel. I would be, too. It would mean we're finally progressing as a society and encompassing all types of relationships. About time! I bet people will take thsi the wrong way, but all this stuff about Azula being lesbian because she clicks so well with Ty lee and Zuko and Aang being gay because they click so well, it depresses me. I'm sorry to hear it depresses you. While I understand what you're saying, I'm not one to immediately assume romantic vibes based on positive character interaction. I'm content to view most characters to be "just friends". That said, I really do believe Azula is into girls, and I make no apologies for my view. Too much subtext involved; too much "hinting". Azula is a questionable type of friend, anyway... as much as I adore her, I wouldn't want someone like that for a friend. She exerts dominance and ascends herself over everyone, particularly those she's "closest" to: all of whom just so happen to be female. This ascension doesn't ring true of friendship, to me. She felt the need to tease Suki relentlessly and call her "[her] favorite prisoner", which can be taken a very different way than a seven-year-old viewer would understand. I can't speak for others, but I've come across quite a few viewers who get that same "vibe" from Azula, for whatever reason. I can -- and do -- bend on Zuko and Aang. It can go either-or with me.
