"Baby, you are my forever girl." I am sooo using that line one day. You are probably sooo getting dumped if you use that line one day. Unless your "forever girl" is an Avatar fan and gets it. If she's not, she's not worth going after.Back on topic... I actually wasn't all that freaked out by Aang's dream. I thought it went a little too fast, actually, and I would have liked to have seen more.

Mahatista - you're not the only one who noticed that visual similarity between Aang in "Nightmares and Daydreams" and Zuko in "The Siege of the North." That's the first thing I thought when I saw that scene. It could just be coincidence, but the show has drawn such parallels between the two before that I think it might have been done on purpose. Hmm....

Hmm.... Especially that Zuko was on the other side of the ice it just seemed like it had to mean something. But confusing, because of Zuko's mean look and Aang's helplessness while looking up at him. Why wasn't it Azula? Aang's never been totally helpless against Zuko and yet he's envisioned him with his fear chakra and in this scary dream. He's associated with the horrible crystal catecombs defeat, but really Azula was always the bigger threat even then.

Maybe Aang has a secret obsession about Zuko..

Zuko was the one hunting Aang all throughout season 1, and as far as Aang is concerned, he still proved himself to be an enemy in CoD. Aang has no idea of all the inner struggles Zuko has gone through, nor the direction he's transforming in now. In Aang's mind, Zuko is still associated with the "evilness" of the Firelord. Although I also thought that the dream that showed Aang in a reversed position with Zuko seemed portentious, but the dreamed seemed more than anything to be about Aang's fear of being defeated by the Fire Nation and losing everyrthing.

^^But why? He's always beaten him. Even in the catacombs when it was harder than ever, he could still have beaten him. It was Azula he was afraid of when he asked Iroh's advice. Why didn't he dream about Azula's mean face looking down at him while he was helpless?

Maybe he wasn't thinking of Azula.. Cos dreams are triggered by thoughts.. so when you dream, you are actually daydreaming while sleeping.. Try this, Before you sleep, daydream about something VERY VERY hard. Sometimes your dream will be about your daydream. I tried. it worked.

Interestingly enough, he also sees Zuko as we know he's never seen him before - his Agni Kai gear. That's Zuko as he looked before he was about to face off with Zhao in Season 1 - I wonder why Aang pictured him that way?

I suppose Aang has seen the Agni Kai before when he spent time in the Fire Nation with Kuzon, so it's not farfetched he would know what the gear looks like. But why is he seeing Zuko that way? I guess because if he thought of Azula in the same gear it would be a different kind of dream? Seriously though, it's perplexing. I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking this way.

^^Or you could go by the theory that some dreams access something called the Collective Unconscious, and certain parts of his mind have access to information not normally available to Aang's waking, conscious self. It probably also has to do with the connection between Aang and Zuko. I'm sure everybody has picked up by now that Aang and Zuko have been living parallel lives throughout the series, especially in season 3 with Aang saying, "I need to redeem myself. I need my honor back." Seeing as how we now know that Aang and Zuko are spiritually related, I think it's pretty reasonable to interpret the dream as being both about Aang's fear of failing to save the world AND Zuko's pivotal role in the coming battle. I'm thinking that Zuko's actions in the coming battles are going to be a major turning point in the tide of the war, especially since we already pretty much know that the DoBS invasion is going to be a failure.

^^We know Zuko's going to be pivotal, but I'm just focusing on the image right then. I think it's interesting that Aang still pictures Zuko in his fear moments (like opening the chakra blocked by fear and during the nightmare) when Azula has proven to be the more dangerous opponent. He even had seemed to switch his concern to her when he talked with Iroh about the avatar state.
I know it has to do with their connection and could have as simple an explanation as that. Aang doesn't have any rational reason for picturing Zuko at these times, but the connection places him in his thoughts nonetheless. It's a drab explanation and lacking drama and overwrought complexity but I'm a hopeless romantic and long for such things.

Why didn't he dream about Azula's mean face looking down at him while he was helpless? Maybe because his relationship with Zuko is more personal? When I saw Zuko in Aang’s dream I thought of "The Blue Sprit". Aang offered Zuko a hand in friendship and he throws a fireball at him. Now Aang offers Zuko his hand but it’s in a cry for help and Zuko still ignores it. Regardless, this episode funny but I felt there were too many jokes considering next episode is the invasion.
