I'm curious to see why everyone who is in this fandom is there. What attracted me was the feeling of epicness in the previews, and it seemed like one of those 'great, never-ending journey' shows.

For me, it was sort of an accident.
I'd seen the previews for it and thought it looked interesting, but for some reason I was under the impression that it was a movie rather than a series. I wasn't really planning on watching the premiere, but I ended up with nothing to do late that night. I had Nick2 at the time, which airs Nick in PST, so at 11 I watched the premiere and I loved it.

Waterbending.
At first I thought the show was lame, and some typical anime, but I loved it. Then the story grew on me, then the characters, then the setting. Everything just came together. I think my first episode was either Jet or The Waterbending Master.

It just happened. I'd heard about it, and at frst, didn't want to like it, writing it off as a ripoff of anime. But then I sat down and watched it Thanksgiving 2005. Or was it the Super Bowl for the 2005-2006 season? Whichever it was, I was playing a card game with my brother-in-law, and he liked Avatar, so we watched it, and I found it to be an awesome show. I think I've told this story before...

I'd heard about it, but that it was stupid. I saw the first episode, after having forgotten about it, and thought it was hilarious. (I was 11) From there, I began to watch it more and more. Now, it is finished.

I heard about Avatar from one of my friends, and decided to look into it. Needless to say, I got hooked.
(OT: I haven't been here in forever! *hugs random Avatar fans*)

When I first heard about it, I thought it was stupid. But one day, I was sick with the stomach flu and I was bed-ridden. I had the TV on in my room, and The Spirit World part 1 was on. I watched it, and I've been hooked for 3 years.

I don't entirely remember, it feels so long ago.. lol. I was probably scanning channels and found it randomly, I know for certain it was mid-season 1. I liked the influence eastern culture had on the show (imagine my glee when the chakra episode aired!). I also loved the complex characters (Zuko, anyone? ) and the martial arts influences.... I dunno, there was a whole slew of things that drew me in once I actually found it. ^^

I saw the little blurb about the "new upcoming show" in NickMag. That and the previews. It all looked interesting.
My life has not been the same. xD

I remember seeing the previews for it but really not having an opinion, I hardly ever get into shows when they first premiere. At that time I was an avid Nick watcher so I just happened to be watching when The Southern Air Temple came on. I remember really enjoying the Agni Kai and just thinking that the show seemed to be a little more serious and mature than other cartoons, and I really liked that about it. I just caught whatever episodes I could up unitl The Winter Soltice I believe and I started watching seriously after that. My true obession started after seeing The Storm.

I saw the previews for the show and thought I'd check it out, and as I was watching the first episode, I didn't really get very into it. Then I saw Zuko and Iroh. And the rest is history!
(btw, I haven't been on since like, last year! *looks around skeptically*)

I was hooked on this game called Fable, and in it you can give your guy nicknames or certain "titles" if you want, like Gladiator, Chicken Chaser, Arseface, Deathbringer, and then there was this strange word that I had never heard of before... Avatar. Had no idea what it meant, asked my dad, he said it meant master or something. Shrug. Later that day I was watching The Fairly Odd Parents and this commercial came on for Avatar: The Last Airbender... It grabbed my attention only because it was the same word from Fable. Later in February I watched the premier, thought it was kinda silly, but decided to give it a chance... the agni kai in The Southern Airtemple episode blew me away so the next week I invited friends over to watch it, but it was The Kyoshi Warriors... which I thought was kinda dumb. Stopped watching it, but then that following Thanksgiving, the day that I stopped watching Phantom of the Opera, the passing of obsessions, I saw that they were having an 8-hour marathon of Avatar. Watched all 8 hours. Drove my cousin nuts. But it was that day that the obsession started.
