I personally don't think many fifteen-sixteen year olds are mature enough for sex in high school. Your brain does not actually physically mature until you are in your twenties. I've seen how sex changes teenagers - usually for the worst. Girls pretty much go psycho-clingy with the boy because in their mind, they are in love. Even when they're not. I don't believe fifteen or sixteen to be a good age for sexual experiences at all.

^ok hold up for a minute the real reason for teenage pregnancy is people ain't usin protection. yeah you can have your one night stands and all that but use a condom. and you don't have to wait till your 18 that is stupid 18 is just a number. if you are in a serious relationship use birth control it isn't that difficult to comprehend. the rules you are making just cause society to look down upon some people that made a mistake and label them as trash when if you go the proper way you can have your cake and eat it too. Even if you do use the condom correctly, it can break, and you still have a 1/100 chance of it backfiring. 300,000,000 people in the US, divided by 100... 3,000,000 pregnancies. Not so good.

I got another question in terms of that, What about other Countries outside of the united States, for example, Japan, lately that country seems to be in the issue of Teen Sex almost constantly, yet we never hear much about that country's Preteen/Teen Pregnancy issues, just thought I wanted to add something to that.

That might be due in part to the Pacific Ocean. Kinda, you know, far?

look maybe i am a little too mature for you guys who are thirteen and fourteen talking about this. i agree you should not be having sex but by seventeen you should get out there. and condoms can break but that is a risk well worth taking

I say 17 is the number one most moronic age you can pick for it to be acceptable. You're one year away from being allowed to move out from your parents and you pick NOW to get out there?? Isn't that like saying, without wanting the age limit dropped, that you should start drinking the day before your 21st birthday?

let's gert back to the pre-teens, shall we?
We have established that 'Just say no' does not work, but why do kids (and as sorry as I am, 11-14 is kids) think they need to experience things way out of their league?

Weakness, impatience, in the case of really moronic kids peer pressure, in the case of 60% of the guys it's not giving a d@$@ about the girl and are horny, and slutty girls . "hmmm, I've waited 4-6 (depending on who it is) years fighting off my horomones and not having sex, I'll be an adult next year . I'll be able to leave and get a new house or possibly go to collage in that next year, I pick now to have sex." I don't care how strong fricken horomones are, I'd prefer my sexual organs lit on fire every night than have sex while I live under my parents' roof. Which is why I plan to move out the day I turn 18 and will take any job I could when I turn 16 and save up for 2 years straight in hopes that I can find some crappy house that I can afford.

A-bloody-men! I totally agree. I personally don't care at what age someone becomes sexually active, as long as they are in at least highschool and are responsible about it. Use condoms and birth control. Be smart. As long as those items are used RESPONSIBLY they are highly effective and safe. Also lets face it...not every one is monogamous, some people just like having sex without being in a relationship. Not everyone needs to be in a relationship for a certain amount of time or be an adult (18) before they do the act, and you certainly don't need these things in order to be SAFE. As for preteens getting it on...I understand their urges but really they need to be educated about it and wait a few more years. When I was 10-13 sex was least of my worries, I was too busy playing and having fun. Kids are too eager to grow up these days. Have fun! Enjoy being a kid. I miss it. Sadly though education about sex for preteens seems rather lax these days. From what I understand sex-ed isn't taught as much in school now, or at least not until highschool. For me it started way back in elementary school O.o (granted we would laaaauuugh man, but hey we were still told) and continued till highschool. Also parents don't seem to be doing their job and talking to their children. I dont think a teen should be looked down upon just for having sex. Sex isn't a bad thing, and I don't think just because someone has done it doesn't mean they should be labeled as a pariah. Pregnancy however is different, because in most cases it means that there was irresponsibility involved. Thus they need to know the consequences of their actions. Like the saying "You made your bed, now lay it."

hey you think that now but wait until you are sixteen. I happen to be eighteen and I still think seventeen is bad age to start experiementing. Out of my group of friends, from about fifteen to eighteen at least, the ones that haven't had sex yet happen to be far more mature than the ones I know that have. Gran Gran: I think these kids want to experience these things as a pattern. When the older teens are into certain things, the younger kids want to do that also. When the older teens start to have sex and have the idea of it gets out, the younger kids end up looking up to people that have sex. I hate to mention the media again - but it's sending out the sexual message. These kids are starting to think that having sex is okay.

I think that just depends on the individual. You can't really make that kind of judgement based on a few individuals experiences. FOr me and my friends it was the opposite, a few started around that age and before hand and were fine, smart, and mature. Some people can handle having sex at 17 or earlier...others can't.

Yeah, I can see what you mean there. I live in Mississippi so most teenage sex going on is usually done for stupid reasons unfortunately. >>; I suppose I was a bit brash in my opinion there. It's just what I notice going around here.

Where I live I DOUBT THERE HAS BEEN A SINGLE TEENAGE COUPLE TO HAVE SEX IN 10 YEARS TO HAVE NOT DONE IT FOR STUPID REASONS! Condoms break. So all this does is make it so random chance is put into who's punished for having sex. And having a problem with somebody because they were unlucky (and not unimaginably unlucky. I mean, , if you have sex often with a condom, I'd expect a pregnancy. I play gambling games all the time and winning a 1/100 odd after a few times is definitely not unexpected. You're suggesting that we punish people if they get a bad hand in poker.that's the most random thing I ever heard, I agree with it. But that's as in place here as a debate about Bill Clinton's affair. I don't think sex is bad. Still happy to live where I do.

Well, I definitely see the reasons for certain teenagers having sex, stupid as they may be at times, but xtal is right - if they're going to do it, they need to be safe about it. Condoms do break, and birth control doesn't always work - but if these guys want to have sex, they better be ready to face the consequences. Nowadays, momma and daddy are picking up the slack on their grandchildren from teenage pregnancies, and the kid doesn't learn!
