I club for all lovers of soul, gospel, R&B, jazz, and other music relating to these groups, including hip-hop, reggae and ska! I just grouped them all together cuz it would be pretty lousy to have a thread designated to jazz and only have five posts.
I honestly don't listen to Gospel or Jazz much. I usually listen them it cuz my mom listens to Urban contempory gospel and my dad is a huge jazz fan. But I do like some of it. I just never got around to asking them and of the song titles. >.>
But I am getting more and more into soul and I've always liked R&B. In the soul category are Robert Rudolph and the Family Band and Macy Gray, and I looooooooooooooooooooove Alicia Keys.
I'm starting to listen to Sean Paul, Matisyahu and the good stuff by Rihanna. Now I love reggae.
And on the topic of hip-hop. Well, actually, though I've always said I disdained it, I still do.
EXCEPT for undie, which is the hip-hop version of indie. It really means "underground hip-hop" and such artists don't have record labels and aren't bound to mainstream hip-hop the emphasize the crude stuff we usually hear. Undie talks more about philosophy and political issues. Basically more introspective than retrospective. I'm currently obsessed with Immortal Technique.
I don't exactly listen to ska, but I listen to ska-punk which is a combo of ska and punk rock. I listen to No Doubt.
That's my take. Everyone is free to discuss their favorite artists in this thread.

and I looooooooooooooooooooove Alicia Keys. And for that, you are automatically awesome. *thumbs up* I got "As I Am" for Christmas, and I love it. I'm more into older stuff, I guess. I like older r&b and soul; Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, dudes of that nature. And I really like Brian McKnight. I don't listen to much jazz or gospel, either. Though thanks to my Peanuts-tastic upbringing, I'm rather fond of Vince Guaraldi. xD Does blues count in this particular category? Because I've been really getting into the album "Try!" by John Mayer and his peeps (even though it came out in 2005, I only heard about it it a month or so ago ^^; ). Dude's bluesy stuff is made of so much win. (the track "Lesson Learned" on Alicia Keys' CD "As I Am" that features her and John Mayer, two of my favorite current artists, makes me fangirl shamelessly).

^Thank you! ^.^
And yus! Blues definately counts!
Woah Alicia Keys AND John Mayer did a duet!? That's - I can't describe it. I'm currently flailing my arms around. XD.
Yeah I like most of the old skool R&B from back in the 90s. Like "Stingy" by Ginuiwine and "How You Gonna Act Like That?" by Tyrese.

Woah Alicia Keys AND John Mayer did a duet!? That's - I can't describe it. I'm currently flailing my arms around. XD. Ha! That was pretty much my response. Even now, when I've heard it a few times, I can still listen to it and go "...I love music." <3 If you'd like to hear it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=24gjW4Oqj2kYeah I like most of the old skool R&B from back in the 90s. Like "Stingy" by Ginuiwine and "How You Gonna Act Like That?" by Tyrese. Ooo, Tyrese is good. I rather like Boyz II Men. They make me say "Hey, not all boy bands are the same." On a topic that is not related to anything you've said, this is the best video on the internet for me: www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/John+Legend%2C+Stevie+Wonder/video/x2gvzq_john-legend-stevie-wonder-live_eventsThis made me go crazy even more than the Alicia Keys/John Mayer colab did. .... "Lesson Learned" officially rocks. And it's a duet that actually makes sense. Or, it's a duet that I actually like.
