Wait . . . do you mean what we thought of it?
Personally, I love it. I had to read it in 7th grade, and it was one of very few school-books that I actually enjoyed (I've read it, like, seven times). The movie rocked my world, too, lol.

^ Me, too! I read it in seventh grade. I thought it was going to be super duper boring, but it actually wasn't. It's about this gang of guys that are "Greasers" and they get into a lot of fights with the other group. (I forgot how you spell the oher group's name.) After we read it, we saw the movie. Tom Cruise looked rrreeeeeaaaaallllllyyyy different.

I liked it, but my class overtalked about it. And I was always amazed that he wrote that long of an essay. XD

I read it two years ago when I was in 6th grade. Whoever picked that book out for the curriculum deserves the utmost praise. I'm glad that the iron censor-grip was loosened a bit, because The Outsiders was definitely worth it.

I read it about four years ago, so I don't remember much of it, but it was pretty good.

I remember watching the movie in class and having little mini-heart-attacks every time Tom Cruise got some screen-time. Three cheers for young Tom Cruise! I always thought it was uber-funny how Ralph Maccio (is that how you spell his last name) played Johnny. I had watched "The Karate Kid" in school the year before for some class (two times, I kid you not) and I was totally obsessed with that movie. The Johnny death scene was particularly funny to me, even though it made me sob in the book.

The Outsiders is a great book! It does start out a little dull, though.

I thought I saw a thread on this book already.
0_o wtf??
Well any who. . . .
It's been a long time since the last time I lay my eyes on this book. This was a fantastic book and just so you guys know the movie was NOTHING.....ABSOLUTELY nothing compared to that book. I usually hate books that are turned into movies because they kill the book. But this movie massacred the book completely. They skipped so many darn parts that it isn't even funny. The guy that played as Ponyboy was not the kind of guy that I pictured Ponyboy as. They could have made better decisions on who they picked to play the role of this person or that person.
The book was detailed and just great. I don't remember that much but one of my favourite characters was Sodapop. Man, he was such a great guy.
It nearly killed me when Dally was shot by the cops. Man, it was not fair that he had to die. There were many parts that made me laugh. In a way, that book sort of made me want to live in that time period.
Though, the 1930s and 1940s were waaay better. x]
I give this book 9/10
- 9/10 because I wanted to know more about Ponyboy's parents. =/ Yes, I am very picky when it comes to books. ^_^;;
