I haven't read Eldest.
From what I've heard it's a trainwreck, though. o__o Maybe I'm just talking to biased people, but every review I've read of the book says that it was far too descriptive and drawn-out.

I didn't think Eragon was too drawn-out.
I thought it was too descriptive, but it wasn't terribly long. And the large amounts of description were quite mediocre. The cliche plotline was what got to me in Eragon. Eldest was just...I put it down after the first two pages. D:

I got to the "Bless the Child, Argetlam" chapter in Eragon before I put it down.

Okay, that's it. I'm re-reading it. Because it can't possibly be THAT bad. D: EDIT: ...Yeah, it probably can. But hey, it's worth a shot.

Bah
You can compare Terry Brooks and JRR. They write in the same genre.....

Its not genre based, how you compare writing.
JRR Tolkien is a better writer than Dan Brown.
But JK Rowling is too different a writer for me to compare her with Tolkien.

Really? I thought the movie was slightly worse than the book. (But the scenery was absolutely beautiful. ) I don't care much for either, though.

Movies are usually worse.

When the movie came out, I heard someone say "It strayed from the book too much" and i figured that was a good thing. Imagine my surprise when straying from the original plot was actually bad!

They messed everything up in the commercial I saw. The dragon took forever to grow and to learn to fly. It also couldn't breathe fire till much later in the book, if at all. The movie sped things up too much.
