I've been watching it from the beginning. Probably the best "classical" giant robot anime of this generation.
It's more enjoyable if you're a giant mecha fan that knows all the plot cliches other wise it can seem totally off the wall and not very plot smooth. I do fell that the fight with the Helix King as rather rushed and allies from out of no nowhere cheapen the fight immensely.

Well, it's only 26 episodes, and they had to get that out of the way before the timeskip.
Ah well, I'm anxious to see the sub of 17.

I didn't butcher the title, I put a line from the anime in nd THEN the title. The translation I see is Making Break-through Gurren Lagann, usually.

Holy crap, someone other than me is watching this? I thought the only people who watched this went to /a/. :/ Anywho, I love this series! Ever since Nyoro~n dropped it I've been having a bit of a time finding subs. (no new eps have been uploaded to Youtube or anything past 13)
I wasn't planing on watching this at first, since I can't stand mecha or fanservice. (the wiki article wasn't helping much either) Then I saw Viral (and his teeth, oh man <3) and desided to tune in for him. Glad I did 'cos I was met with an unbelieveable amount of awsome, epic, and win. <3 It's a shame not more people are watching this.
Oh, link in OP is dead.

Eeps! My bad. I'll fix it.
Join the community gurren_lagann on LJ, they post RAWS and then the sub file for each ep, most of the time.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann = Break Through(or Pierce) the Heavens! Gureen Lagann. You had the order wrong. On a side note. Gimmy and Darry look adorable in their new mechs.^^

I just started watching this show (after much poking and prodding from my friends) and, of course, I'm hooked. I'm only up to episode 3 so far though, so I won't really have much of an opinion of it until I've watched a bit more.

Just watched ep 18 for me personally it was fantastic. spoiler The action is pretty standard but the way people react to the attacks and how the government is run was excellent. THAT is how you turn a good guy (Rossiu) into a villain without having to kill his family. Not only does he have a "new world order" feel to him but you can actually see WHY he's doing it. He's totally in character when you consider where he came from (the village with the population limit)

I seriously love this series. And Rossiu, I love him too. Don't care what anyone says, he was my favorite as soon as he showed up and he'll be my favorite until the bitter end. <3333

The ending was decent though there's many a fanboi that though it was a Gainex screw over. There's another large time jump at the end. Overall the series was good and i thought it ended appropriately for a japanese anime. At the end of the the series isn't about manliness being the ultimate power or even that you should "kick reason to the curb"; It's actually about how sacrifices need to be made in order to proceed forward.
I'll be definately picking it up on dvd once it comes state side.

Im considering watching it because its relatively short and it was brought to my attention by the most recent VGCats filler comic.

A podcast I listen to reviewed Toppa Tengen Gurren Lagann and talked about how awesomely awesome it was. I don't fall for giant mecha shows, but this one is good for the first two episodes I have seen.
