lol I tried not to spoil, but ya'll know what's going to happen.
I personally can't wait to watch it tommorrow night, cuz Light annoys me know. He's all "I win! I win!!" before knowing if he really did. So cocky, and I'm already tired of it. I wanna see him get the death he deserves!

^ *nods* I agree.
He was all "Looks like I win, Near," before anyone even died. Smart move, Light. Smart move.

I feel they should have aired the last 2 episodes consecutively, in one block. The fact that 36 ends on "40!" makes it obvious Near would win. If Light's plan were to work, then that would mean everyone would die in literally the first second of the episode, so it was a pretty poor cliff hanger.

The American dub for DN really sucks compared to the subs. I watched the entire subbed series, in like three days or so. (Yes, I have too much time on my hands. That isn't the point.) I watched part of the first episode in English, and I gave up on it. The only dubs I watch are the FMA dubs, which are pretty good. I watched the whole subbed series first, so I think I know what I'm talking about. Heh, you guys are going to love the ending if you feel that way. Too bad I didn't. </3 www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVb6m5QozdY&eurl=http://www.gaiaonline^Watch it. Most of it is pretty funny.

The first part of the first episode? What's that, just Light having a few lines?

I never said the first part. I said part. I watched thirteen minutes of the episode. Light's voice doesn't sound smart enough or evil enough.
Now, that being said have you even watched any of the subbed version?

Yes. Light's original voice is definitely better the english, but L's dub is much better than the original.

Over all I thought it was best in the 1st half between Kira and L. After that everything felt tacked on. For thinking he's so darn clever, Light was pretty stupid. In the end it was the guys in the task force that cause his down fall (like he thought they might be in the very beginning). The whole time he kept thinking if he killed them off it would implicate him.
So easy to over come that, just kill off one of their family members, 1 or 2 of them, AND Misa. That way it would look like Kira is going after their families. It would give the best reason to disband the task force.
For me L was the best as he was a very interesting character. Near, not so much as he just seemed like a shouta version of L. I did like the fact they went into how people would start distorting Kira's original goal and what not. Very rarely do you see the actions of the main characters affect the environment like that.
Overall I give it a B though it would be an A for people that like detective work and thinking over action. I'll caveat and say I don't think I'll ever watch it again.

The dub wasn't too bad. I definetly wouldn't call it unwatchable. Personally I think the dubbed L and Ryuk is better than the original. The only voice I thought didn't quite match was Mikami. Light wasn't as good as the original but he still wasn't bad.

I watched some episodes of the original, but I thought the dub was pretty well done.
Now, the last episode was good. But, if I'm remembering correctly, in the manga, Light looks at Ryuk like he's asking for help, but in turn Ryuk writes down Light's name (after that little speech of his). This is all supposed to happen INSIDE the warehouse. And that's where Light dies. In the anime, he ends up dying, after Ryuk writes his name down, outside the warehouse, with a light shining down on him. Yeah that 's what we want. For him to look MORE like a God. All in all, I liked everything that led up to that. His crazy laugh, his anger towards Mikami for writing Takada's name down (when he should have done nothing), and Matsuda's anger and grief towards Light (poor guy, but kudos to him for wanting shoot Light in the head! lol).
One question. Since it happened so quick, and I missed it, What did Mikami do to himself? Slit his own thoat?

Mikami in the anime stabbed himself with a pen in the stomach and exploded into a fountain of blood..... then died. In the manga, I think he went insane while in prison and died there, but I'm not sure. I haven't read the last volume.

I was pretty content with how the series ended, though I wish I could see some aftermath. The closing credits show Misa apparently still free, and she should be in prison. And I'd like to see if there's ever any change in Sayu. And how Light's mother reacts to learning about her son being Kira. And how the whole dang world reacts to its new "god" being dead. And so forth. Oh, and what becomes of the notebooks.
But other than that, good stuff. I didn't really feel bad for Light at all, or at least, not so much for his losing or his dying, but perhaps for his realizing how powerless he really was in the end. I liked how he said "Where's Misa? Where's Takada?" clearly having forgotten that he bloody well killed Takada. I loved Matsuda's reactions, and I liked Mikami's reaction, I felt that he realized he'd been wrong to consider Light god, and perhaps felt remorse at his own actions. Though I might've read that wrong.

From the Sub I got the impression that Misa killed herself, she was on top of a bridge/building and was near the edge. Her character would rather die than live a life without Light.
As for Mikami I felt he killed himself because he failed his god.

I think that Misa DID kill herself. I mean, she has no reason to go on, now that Light's gone. And the way they showed her on the top of the building, looking empty.
@chibi- oh thanks. lol I thought I saw him with a pen, and all of the sudden BAM! Blood everywhere! I can't remember what happened to him in the manga. It's been awhile.

Yeah, I think Misa did kill herself. She'd do anything for Light... without him, what is her reason for living? She was crazy about him. I actually feel sad about Light dying, and feel bad for him. I know what he did was horrible, but that's a pretty sucky way to die.
