I LOVE Foreign films! It's one of my favorite genres of movies, everz. I saw Curse of the Golden Flower on my birthday this year and it was awesome-tastic. Gong Li was wonderful as the Empress, and so was Chow Yun-Fat as the Emperor. I saw Volver with my mother and we both enjoyed it. I didn't like Amelie as much. It was a cute movie, but there were some parts were I was like "...Okay!". Overall, I did like it, but I wouldn't mind not seeing it again.
Have you heard of Ang Lee's Lust, Caution? I want to see that movie SO bad. The only cinema that's playing it near me is sort of far away, so I'm gonna have to wait until they release it on DVD until I can see it.

(My country has only about 100 cinemas) In my country, foreign movies refer to.. hm. Nothing.. lol mostly Japanese/korean movies xD

I'm certain! By disgusting, do you mean the graphic sexual scenes in the movie? If so, I don't mind them. I'm interested in the story, and those scenes are just part of the story and the development of the characters so, I won't go see it because of them. Although I do appreciate you trying to warn me, because I know some people go in to see a movie and don't know that there are scenes like that and it takes them by surprise. xD

well, I've seen Kung-fu hustle, house of flying daggers, crouching tiger hidden dragon, and some films from Germany. and a part of Volver.
I've read more about them than actually watch. Want to watch "The Twilight Samurai" and "Hidden Blade." That and "Azumi."

Letters from Iwo Jima..excellent japanese WWII movie. Just excellent. Also.. I forgot what show it is.. Its about the Korean North/South war.. These soldiers meet (by accident) in a village who doesnt know anything about guns/war/grenades..etc etc.. They are injured so have no choice but to stay.. Soon they build a friendship and tries to stop a bomb raid on the mountain the village is on.. Awsome show.. Kinda like what will happen if an earthbender and firebender meet lol.. It shows that even people with differences can be the best of friends.

@gothloli: Volver is an awesome movie! I loved the music in it and the plot and the characters. It was an enjoyable movie to watch and my mother, who's usually very picky about movies, loved it too.
House of Flying Daggers is a good movie, but at the end I was like "...That's it?!". The music and everything was wonderful though. Another foreign movie I've seen recently was "Y Tu Mama Tambien". Even though I knew what I was getting into when I rented the movie on Netflix, I was still wow'd by the end of it. I wouldn't recommend it to a lot of people though, unless they weren't squicked so easily by things like nudity and sexual scenes in movies (which that movie had a lot of XD).

I've only ever seen one foreign film, but I don't remember what it's called. It was about the Holocaust...

Melis: Now that you've linked me to the trailer of "Lust, Caution", I so want to see it! It looks so intriguiging and so suspenceful. @astronomy: There are many movies about the Holocaust. Anyways... I simply adore foreign movies, much more than those Hollywood produced films actually. My brother buys a lot of those A-Movies on dvd, which are more or less movies from foreign countries which are of good quality. For example, he has two Korean movies: "Bin-Jip" and "Samaritan Girl". Both outstanding movies. Then there was that Romanian movie called "4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days" which I really, really wanted to see in the theaters, but never got a chance to. ;_; Oh well, I shall buy it once it comes out on dvd.

@kohana: It does, doesn't it? I can't wait for the DVD to come out so I can rent it! Also, that Romanian movie you mentioned sounds interesting by the title alone. What's it about?
One of the coolest movies ever.
If I could recommend any foreign movie to a friend, it'd be "In the Mood for Love". It's a bit slow and doesn't have much action, but the way the director directed the movie and showed the everyday simple-ness of the characters and the way they develop it's just...wonderful. It's a very romantic movie too for its subtleness. ♥

I'm going to watch it when it comes out in the theater. =D That Romanian movie is set in in 1987 in Communist Romania, where a girl Otilia helps her friend and roommate Gabita to get a late-term abortion done (at that time, any sort of abortion, as well as any kind of contraceptive were illegal in Romania). The film is very realistic and shows the rough and gritty situation in which the girls, particularly Otilia, must make decisions and deal with their consequences. Not for the faint of heart. I haven't seen it yet, but I really want to. I still have to see this movie. xD My brother has this on dvd. I knew I recognized the title so I went to look. I'll try to watch it one of these days. I love it that he has all those cool, beautiful dvds. ♥

Don't worry, it will be 16+ here in the theaters because they're more lenient when it comes to movies and such here, and then I can get to see it. Yeah? Can you give an example of an awesome Japanese war movie? If I can recommend a great foreign movie, it'd be Hiroshima Mon Amour. It's a black 'n white (I love those) and so romantic (really love those!). ^_^

Heck I'm currently watching old Soviet movies, don't worry nothing bad happened in them!
About "Lust Caution", I was thinking about seeing that one, I am 21 after all. But then when I found out it was X-rated, and that it was too long, I lost all interest.
