I absolutely hate the way Zac Efron is so overhyped, but I'm telling you, Hairspray was such a good movie that you would do yourself a disservice to not go see it just because you don't like Efron or Travolta.
John Travolta was very convincing women, and after a while you really stop thinking of it as a man in a woman's fat suit.
The rest of the cast was absolutely awesome. Michelle Pfieffer was a great Velma von Tussle, and James Marsden was soo good as Corny. Elijah Kelley (Seaweed) is an amazing singer, and Christopher Walken was great in his role as Wilbur Turnblad.
All in all, the cast, singing, and dancing make this the best movie musical I've ever since.

I absolutely loved this movie. The singing, the acting, the dancing... everything was just incredible. It had my foot tapping by 'Good Morning Baltimore.'
I really need to see it again.

I thought the plot was kind of bad, but I loved the music.

Well, I wasn't PLANNING on seeing it. It seemed really bad in the trailers, but I was invited to one of my close friend's birthday party which was to see a movie and some pizza afterwards. It was (fortunately, now) Hairspray! She said this is gonna be the 3rd time she watching this movie. Seeing as she's a big critique when it comes to- well, a lot of things, I was intrigued.
The movie was simply amazing.
The dancing, the songs, and the over-all plot was incredible. In the beginning of the movie, I wasn't all that impressed. It seeemed a little- bleh. But then it started getting better as it progressed. My friends and I were laughing so hard when "You're Timeless to Me" started playing.
All in all, it was a good movie. ['Cept at the end, I lost my left contact (which I didn't, but was stuck underneath my eyelid) so the screen was half-clear and half-blurred.]

^I sorta saw it by accident too. I was gonna see Harry Potter (again), but the next showing wasn't for several hours, and I didn't want to wait, so I saw Hairspray instead.

Hairpsray was awesome. On so many levels... People who don't like Zac E.: I'm not the biggest fan of him either, but he surprised me in this. Not too shabby at all. Not the greatest, but miles ahead of HSM. Nikki Blonsky was pure love, and so was Queen Latifah (of course). Elijah Kelley and James Marsden made me fangirl. I'll admit it. ..Great movie. <3

My friend bought the soundtrack... I'm soooo jealous. The soundtrack is pretty great but the DVD (see: reason for this bump) is even better. It has cast interviews (aww, everyone was so devoted and happy about this movie), behind the scenes of most of the dance moments, and insightful director commentaries. If you enjoyed the movie, I encourage you to buy it. ♥

hmm,i have to say this movie was... HORRIBLE! I hated all the random dancing, the 60's creepyness,(oh wait my mom was born in the 60's) the weirdness.
sorry for people who liked it i just didnt like it.

sorry for people who liked it i just didnt like it. It's alright. We all have different tastes. Although I have to admit I'm confused of your hatred of the "random dancing". Hairspray is a musical and musicals are for music and dancing. I would see it, but Zac Efron annoys the hell out of me. Actually, Zac Efron was really good in this movie. Going from High School Musical to a big movie like this made him up his game and he fits his role very well. He’s a sweet teen heartthrob playing a sweet teen heartthrob and, as a bonus, his scenes with Nikki Blonsky/Tracy are sweet too.

I really liked how he ends up with the girl that was different. Not another Barbie doll...
