Lol, no, I mean those pop-out scenes that freak out everybody ~ you know, just 'cause you're not expecting it, not 'cause it's actually scary. There have been a whole lot of those in movies lately. And yeah, if rats gross you out, you should think twice, though there's not a whole lot of ick. Just, you know, kitchens and rodents. Besides, part of the point of the movie was overcoming prejudice. Me, I love cooking, I love rats and mice, and I love Paris. ~~~~(3:> <:3)~~~~ The movie was heaven.

The main rat seems like something that would be fun to draw.

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILER SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS belowDirectly from my lj, copied and pasted; they are instinctive thoughts immediately after watching the movie: Ratatouille. Best. Thing. Ever. People of Pixar, they're pretty much Gods. "Story is King" indeed. Rat ANGST. They pulled of rat ANGST. XD I heart Remy! And his big brother Emil! And their Dad! Really, their whole family! CUTEST RATS EVER. I could see parallels in "odd animal out" between Remy and Flik of Bug's Life; really did expect his whole clan of rats/family to seriously chew him out down the line, but it didn't happen, and why? Because they're family; I LOVED how the rats emphasized/embodied that theme; Remy may be weird to them, but he's still family, and later there's the big fat happily ever after that's so satisfying, including family acceptance, but it's not the only part of said satisfaction. Ratatouille--peasant meal? OH REMY, INTENTIONALLY TRYING TO HUMBLE GRIM EATER THERE? (I heart my brilliant rat; seriously want to write a fic of the movie entirely from his more detailed POV...but I'd need to wait for DVD release, can't remember it all from one theatre show.) Speaking of Grim Eater--and I finally get the joke of his name--wow, Pixar again showing it's mega-huge IQ with that flashback of his when he ate the Ratatouille; humanized him instantly, and onward until the film's end. I so very love the whole drawn-out explanation montage with Grim Eater, because I had been so certain before that, yeah, things would be solved if they had all that time to explain Remy's partnership with Lou. (sp?), but it's never gonna happen; guess what, it happened. And I adore how calm and observant Grim Eater was--okay, that there, was startingly realistic, I found; same thing with the fact that all of Lou.'s human cooking staff, except Colette (eventually), they all just left--they couldn't swallow that whole truth as fact, but there would be something wrong if they started chewing them out. So they left, and it all made sense. List of "Woah, they got away with that? SWEET, animated movies getting more story freedom": "Welcome to hell?" Lovechild from an "old flame?" (Pre-marital sex?)--*note: lead to very interesting plot of inheritance and wills and attempted theft and lost heirs and leading into one of the best chase sequences in the history of movies ever* "messing with so-and-so's daughter?" I loves it all like mad. XD Remy=rat poison detector? (Never expected that; cool.) Remy and his dad in front of that rat slaughter house? Chilling and deep; those actual rats all hanging up there dead and on display, Remy's unbelieving horror, his Dad's grim and experienced observance--y'know exactly where Dad's coming from. And yet, Remy perserves; part of his motive from there on, I think, is that he decidedly wants more than that for rats, they shouldn't have crappy lives and be treated like that by humans--did not expect to feel species tension there. I...just, yeah; need that Remy POV fic. ^^; Really liked how Remy's guide is ultimately, Remy himself, and how Pixar made that clear; he's the one with the recipes, but more importantly, with that determination and actually useful sense of optimism, and that unexpected distaste for thievery. Since I'm still in a Pirates state of mind, Remy would ultimately end up a lousy pirate, huh? XP (Since I'm writing Ratatouille thougths, I should really gather up my AWE thoughts, huh? ^^ REMY, REMY, REMY, REMY--that is all. ...I'm fangirling a rat. >____<; But he's so cute and smart and I love his artist's journey!

I saw it I liked it. It was a little long but still good. I wanted to stay for the possible bloopers at the end of the credits but my family didn't want to.
Oh and I absolutly loved the alien short film at the begining.

I. LOVED. THIS. MOVIE. Might be my favorite of all the Pixar films, come to think of it. It just hit all the right notes for me, and the entire theater applauded at the end. Spoilers below:Part of why I liked this so much is the realism and the love of food and the kitchen on display here. It just felt so right. This is a bit more serious than some other Pixar films - certainly less colorful and loud than "Cars," but no less entertaining. Remy is just adorable - he's a cutie with a loveable little personality. Linguini is hilarious in his initial ineptitude, but I love the bond that he and Remy have - the conversation with Remy in the Mason jar is priceless - and for some reason I just smiled every time he called Remy "little chef" (and the bed he made for him was priceless). And I want to be Collette when I grow up, seriously. She was awesome in about 50 different ways. The animation is also just breathtakingly beautiful - all the details in the kitchen were appreciated - the water rings and nicks on the cutting boards, the dings on the bottom of the copper pans, the clog shoes and checked pants the cooks wore - all just spot-on. And I also thought it was cute that Remy had that little rapid breathing thing that rodents do - so accurate. Remy's fur looked so soft, and the effect on Linguini when he jumped in the river and got out - the way the wet clothes hung on him was so realistic! But more than that was that the movie had heart. The love between Remy and his family, as mentioned above, was so touching, as was his devotion to Gusteau's ideals. For some reason every time they said "anyone can cook" I almost bawled! Maybe it's because my husband cooked professionally for a few years and those who cook for a living really do (for the most part) have a true passion for it. Collette's conflict when she found out Remy was the chef was brilliant - the mix of emotions on her face where she looks like she's about to cry or slap Linguini - so great. And Anton Ego's epiphany with the ratatouille might just be one of the greatest single scenes in any animated film. And it's funny, too! The "You don't have the guts!" *bang*bang*passionate embrace* part when Remy's running through the walls is hilarious, along with the backstories of all the cooks: "He ran guns for the resistance - he won't say which one. I think they lost." "I robbed the second-largest bank in France with nothing but a ballpoint pen." "I killed a man - with this thumb!" Priceless, priceless. In short, I just think everyone should see this - it's that good.

Whoa. you guys actually went to see this? Hmm, from the commercials, imo, it looks so stupid. I mean a rat that cooks. How ridiculous can you get? I don't plan on seeing it, I think it will give little kids bad ideas about bringing rats into kitchens, and playing with rats. As if my cousin wasn't bad enough about that kind of stuff.
But whatever, i'll leave it alone now. That's just my say.

Hey, hey. It's just a movie! And rats cooking deliciously isn't the main point. "Anyone can cook", that's what it's about. If you are good at something and love to do it, you should go for it, no matter what people say. Remy was adorable, smart, and witty. In the beginning, you can definitely sense that he is different from the other rats. Linguini is a perfect match, being the clumsy guy who accidently "cooks" a delicous soup. The partnership between the two is almost flawless. Collette is so freakin' awesome. "Keep...your station..CLEAN!" So French! And... there are a million other awesome points to this movie. But go watch them yourself.

Now I know you're all gonna kill me for saying this but...
Pixar has outdone itself.
Yeah, Pixar has outdone itself with every Pixar movie released, but this movie was absolutely marvelous! The animation was gorgeous and this film gave a realistic perspective of cooking.
The charachters were funny, adorable and human.
And the music was awesome! And they didn't stereotype the French like people feared they would. Realistic Paris.
The romance was the icing on the cake but did not over stay it's welcome, only making the movie sweeter. Linguini and Collette......let's just say I'm hooked on them!
I'm speechless!
And I'm glad we went to see this instead of Evan Almighty.

And... there are a million other awesome points to this movie. But go watch them yourself. I second this. Everything about Ratatouille was so charming and beautiful (from the characters to all the little details) and it's the only movie in a long time that I want to go back to the theaters to see again. I don't have a really long review like most but I highly recommend seeing this movie.
