I loved this animated film ~ has anyone else seen it? If not, you really must. IMDb's synopsis runs: "When her grandson is kidnapped during the Tour de France, Madame Souza and her beloved pooch Bruno team up with the Belleville Sisters--an aged song-and-dance team from the days of Fred Astaire--to rescue him." It won 16 awards and was nominated for two Oscars. Links to trailers: www.rottentomatoes.com/m/triplets_of_belleville/trailers.phpIn the words of one reviewer, "For someone with an adventurous cinematic appetite, a production that makes Miyazaki appear mainstream is surely worth a look." If the film seems too odd for you, at least watch the trailer for the infectious music, if nothing else.

Triplets > many, many other things Ok, so if you're a fan of Avatar, how could you not love another show featuring frozen-frog-licking? This movie is so bizarre and absurd... and yet so touching and true to human experience (okay, except for the part where they cross the Atlantic Ocean). Here's a clip from the beginning on YouTube: after the credits, it shows the Triplets heyday in Belleville/New York (purposefully animated to look aged), and then segues into more recent times across the ocean in France. www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-NZE17hvt0

Omg, wow, I didn't think anyone else knew of this movie. Man, it was fantastic. So artistically innovative.
France called us fat though. I'm sensitive about my weight...
