The matrix is in my top 10 for sure but the question is did you like the matrix? Now it's time for a random Morpheus qoute with a slight twist! "This poll will offer the truth nothing more". As a closing comment I would like to say bullet time is awsome!

Bullet time is awesome. however it was not particularly philisophicallly or psychologically innovative. I actually found that the sequels made me think noticeably more, but still not as much as Evangelion did.
Good movies, but not top 10.

I will say the 1st matrix movie is in my top 10. It was revolutionary for it's time. All the sequels though are in my top 10 of "how to screw up a really good franchise".

The first time I saw last one, the oracle asked Mr. Smith what happened to the little girl, and he used her voice, I said you b*****d right before she did
Anyway, it's in my top ten, but the whole prophecy, chosen one thing is beginning to get played out.

If anyone's ever read Gilgamesh, Matrix is a good parallel--that topic got me an A on my Mythology paper Yeah, while the concept itself though isn't completely originaly, "The Matrix" was revolutionary for American cinema, plot wise and special effects. It's also one of the most spoofed and copied movies when it comes to those slowed-time, magnified motion effects. Whenever I see an action movie and they slow down time and zoom in on a character the first thing I think, "Matrix." What I loved (and hated) about the Matrix was good ole Mr. Reeves. Despite his...questionable acting skills, I can't really see anyone else playing Neo. The guy looks durn good in all black leather. True, but the majority of American movie-goers--or Americans period--don't watch cyberpunk anime nor read 80s sci-fi novels. It's easier to pay $7.50 and sit for two hours in front of a huge screen and have pictures and loud noises flash at you. And after a long stretch of crappy romantic comedies for years and years, The Matrix was indeed something fresh for the people.

Hugo Weaving was excellent as Agent Smith.
And the fight scenes were excellent, the Matrix Trigoly has my second favorite fight scenes of all time. (FFVII: Advent Children had the best imo)

I am a huge Matrix fan but I would have to say I liked Reloaded and Revolutions better. Sure the first is good but I find the other two to have better story lines, the acting was much better, other then a few actors...lol. I just loved how the borough in other crews and people in Zion, to me it gave the films a better felling, it got the fans to become fans of some of the lesser known characters.

While watching the first Matrix the philosophies and "innovative ideas" felt very been there done that, the same was not true with Reloaded and Revolutions.

(both of which heavily influenced the matrix) I'm referring to the technology used to create the effects. The genre was already established as you said. You can see hints from movies like Blade Runner and Aoen Flux as well.

"Mister Anderson..."
Man that guy was amazing. Everytime I watch LoTR that's the first thing I hear in my mind when I see Elron.

I was very lucky I have got to meet him when he was in New Zealand filming LOTR, he is a really nice guy, I asked him to say "Mr Anderson" for me, it was sooooo cool ;D. I just wish I had had a camera with me at the time.
