Well back then movies were mainly made to entertain, it was a totally different period. But the original King Kong did pioneer many techniques that were used up until the total takeover of CGI. I can personally appreciate it as today movies with million dollar movie stars and eye popping CGI are a dime a dozen, back then you were lucky if you got sound much less color. And in my perosnal opinion Peter Jackson is over rated

I simply think that i shouldnt have to pretend its 1930 in order to enjoy a movie.

Well both movies are set at that time period you know. Meh as I said, young blood no respect, next thing you want is a over hyped CGI version of gone with the wind or Casablanca.

You seem to think all i care about if special effects. I couldnt care less.
All i care about is that the script, directing, and acting are all terrible by todays standards.
Some movies do stand the test of time. "Dr. Strangelove", does. "King Kong" doesnt.
"Dr. Strangelove" was clever and well written, even by todays standards.

Well yes the original Kong has not aged well but i still appreciate it, I can appreciate it more then the dime a dozen CGI op star driven films of today. what the new film lacks is mistique, something like that is easily lost on todays audience. I am an old film buff here and a good amount of time I am dissipointed by remakes of older films. The original King Kong was an adventure film, I dont need the melodrama of the new film. And I already made it clear on my feelings about Jackson, I dont think he is as hot as everyone makes him out to be as I did not like a number of his films. Scriptwriting is another matter, two different times two different audiences, back then you didnt have to worry about complicated storylines the audience came to enjoy a film. Thats what I do, I go to enjoy the film, the script direction or whatever is just a bonus. I can appreciate classic film and appreciate the hardships they had to go through especially the producers of the original kong as that was the heart of the depression you did what you had to do... dont worry about the script, worry about your job... that was the montra pretty much.

The movie is a classic though, I dont care how many high tech CGI effects a film has, how many high payed actors a film has, who does the music, the sound or any of that crap a classic is a classic. you are just spoiled by todays modern digital CGI pop star stuff. AMEN! And that goes for a lot of le modern society. mr. Kaneda: I'm with Sunny, back then, people didn't need to see all the big long confusing stroylines. You need an old-time mindset to appreciate an old-time movie.

Peter Jackson did an excellent job with the movie. The game turned out really well too. A tad bit too long, but same with all his other films.

I thought that the length of the movie was long, but it did work out for the better of the movie.

I didn't think this movie was that bad. Yeah, all it was was a show of special effects, but still. It lasted way too long, though.

I have to agree with you. You can't tell a story of that magnitude with just an hour and a half. It did help the movie.
