And gives the characters depth and makes me care about the giant ape.
And Jack Black.

I didn't like it very much. It was too long, the ice dancing with Namoi Watts and the ape was completey stupid, but the only thing I like about the movie was the ape! He's cute!

You have to love a giant ape running around a city. I didn't see it but I heard that Jack Black's performance was phenomenal and that he should stick to more serious movies.

The thing I never understood about the movie is why does everything on Skull Island want to eat humans. Like in this one scene a T-Rex had a giant alligator in its mouth and the second he saw a human walk by he put it down just so he could go eat a human. Not only did the T-Rex chase her down the entire island but also fought a friggin giant ape just so he could eat a small meat containing human. I mean come on!!

Oh please, you young bloods have no respect for the classic film industry! the 1930's version was a very pivitol film, it was made at great expense at a time where a terrible time had come for the movie industry. The great depression, one of the most trying timnes in our nations history, a time where you were LUCKY to get anything like the original King Kong. Just because a movie is made before 1990 doesnt mean its bad, a lot of great movies were made before CGI even set foot on the big screen. and Jack Black, psh... The extra storyline was fluff to me as well

Not just the fx, but the plot, acting, directing, and script are all very subpar by today's standards.

The movie is a classic though, I dont care how many high tech CGI effects a film has, how many high payed actors a film has, who does the music, the sound or any of that crap a classic is a classic. you are just spoiled by todays modern digital CGI pop star stuff.
