Ship-bashes!!
That's right shippers.. we are endorsing Ship-bashes. Not ship bashing, but ship-bashes. Here's how is works:
- Your ship will host a party for all other ships and shippers to attend. The 'bash' starts on Friday nights at 9pm EST... after the new episodes air on the east coast. We will work out a rotation schedule so that every ship has a minimum of a month to prepare before their next bash.
- Your party should have a theme. Ex. Soko's- Roasted Duck Dinner & Dance, Maiko's- Swords and Shuriken Bingo, Kataang's- Penguin Ride Jamboree, Zutarian's- Music Night, Youkkan's- Celestial Surfing... you get the idea. If you can't come up with a theme, use one of these or ask around if your ship was not mentioned.
- Create a sequence of events for the night to keep the party rolling.. try using even a little roleplay. You can even use roleplay to have guest appearances from your favorite characters and OC's. Make sure you have a closing post for when the bash is complete and your guests all have left with smiles upon their faces.
- Guest ships and shippers- bring your fanwork to share! (poems, stories, sigs/avvies, manipilations, fanvids, roleplay transcripts, songs.. bring your great grandpa's liverspot that looks like a cloud Aunt Wu would predict as a meteor shower!)
The point is for everyone have fun together, even if it is only once a week. It gives everyone a chance to get to know one another and have more exposure to the dedicated hard work put into making fanart. We'll get a chance to be silly while understanding what makes people ship different pairings. The ultimate goal in all of this is through interacting, we can all become more tolerant of one another.
Hey, if it so happens that Ty-Lee's back freezes up during a game of Twister, Aang accidently kisses Azula instead of Katara or Zuko drinks so much punch that he declares his undying love to Momo- we'll be sure the DH Paper hears about it.
This not so new tradition was first brought to DH by Alleluia. To see how one Music Night was ran not so long ago, click here
